A Big Thank You to Hunter at Lawrence’s Seafood Company – A Truly Standout Experience!
During our family’s recent spring break trip to Charleston, SC, we stayed at an oceanfront hotel on Isle of Palms. On our last night, the hotel recommended we try Lawrence Seafood Company, conveniently located right next door. It’s a perfect spot for beachside dining laid-back, scenic, and exactly what we needed to end our trip on a high note. It was a Tuesday night, a little after 9 PM close to their 10 PM closing time and we were on the fence about eating since we were still full from earlier in the day. But we’re so glad we went! Hunter, our server, greeted us with a warm smile and immediately made us feel welcome. Despite the late hour, he was kind, patient, and incredibly attentive. He gave us thoughtful menu recommendations without rushing us and truly went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable. A few days after we returned home to Atlanta, our teenage daughter realized she was missing her mini Tory Burch wallet and sunglasses. We called the restaurant, and guess who answered? Hunter! He confirmed the items had been found and made sure we were the rightful owners before arranging to have them shipped back to us via FedEx. Talk about going the extra mile—he truly didn’t have to do that, but he did it without hesitation. It’s rare to come across someone so genuine and dependable. Oh, and the food? Absolutely fantastic! The Spicy Mango Shrimp Tacos were incredible, my daughter loved her Chicken Sliders, and my husband’s Fish Tacos hit the spot. The atmosphere was lively and fun we were all jamming to trending country hits while enjoying our food and soaking in the beach vibes. There are still good people in the world, and Hunter R. is definitely one of them. From his exceptional service at the table to his honesty and kindness afterward, he’s a stand-up guy and a true asset to Lawrence Seafood Company. If you ever find yourself on Isle of Palms, ask for Hunter at Lawrence Seafood Company you won’t be disappointed!
Thanks again, Hunter! Cheers from A....
Read moreWe came in today because the previous restaurant we went to had a 90 minute wait and this one could seat us right away. That must have been our warning sign. It took a little bit to be greeted at our table. Not a big deal because that seems to be the trend with restaurants now. We order our drinks, appetizers, and meals at the same time. We received our drinks. Our appetizer (nachos) was taking a very long time and we didn’t see our server for a while. When he appeared he told us our meals would be out soon, so we asked about our appetizer and he said that is coming also. We did order them at the same time so we figured they were just all made at the same time. Our meals came, our appetizer didn’t. We never saw our server again. We were almost done eating (was never checked on), my po boy had one bite left when I saw someone holding a plate of nachos looking at our table, then they ran back into the kitchen. The person came back out (without the nachos) and talked to a couple of coworkers quickly and then approached our table and asked if we already received our nachos. We told him no and he came back with them. We still haven’t seen our server since before our meal came out. Three people walked by and asked how everything was and we just said alright. No apologies or anything. When it was time for the check we still couldn’t find our server. So we asked the bartender and he was looking EVERYWHERE for him. He never found him, so he brought us our bill but it wasn’t split up correctly. A woman came back with our correct bill and said she took 5% off because our server failed to communicate that he had an emergency and just left. I don’t like asking for free stuff, but 5% was a slap in the face. I understand service hasn’t been the same since pre covid, but I can confidently say that this was the worst service and experience I had at a slow restaurant.
Side note: don’t get the nachos because they put all the cheese at the bottom and cover it in...
Read moreSuper disappointed. My friend took me to dinner here, it was my first time eating at Lawrence's. She was very excited to eat there. We walked in just a little after 8:00. There were only a few people there so we asked if they were closing. We were told if he wanted something "fast", we could order. (What??) We looked at the sign on the door and it said they close at 9:00, which meant we had at least 45 minutes. We ordered the fish of the day (unicorn fish) and crab cakes. It came in baskets (not a big deal, but for the price, I thought it was ridiculous) We each had one beer. The crab cakes were good, the fish was good and the coleslaw was awful. The total was almost $75!! Anyway, as we were eating, they started cleaning, putting chairs on top of the tables and were sitting at the bar with their purses, ready to go. It was clear that they had no interest in making sure we had a pleasant dining experience. I was so uncomfortable and felt so rushed, that I did not enjoy the dinner. It was extremely rude and disrespectful. With the way they were acting, you would have thought we were keeping the place open for hours. After we were done (rushed), my friend was speaking to the bartender and they were behind her putting our chairs on the table. We literally walked out of the place at 9:07. The server was a sweet girl, but other than that, not a pleasant experience. For the price we paid, we definitely felt unwanted. **Also, before we went, we checked online and it said they closed at 10. Either way, we shouldn't have been...
