Our family of four stayed for two nights in mid-June. While the property originally dates back to 1974, its recent renovation and rebranding from a Holiday Inn to a Fairfield (completed at the end of 2023) gave it a fresh, modern look with updated features. It met the expected Fairfield standards and even surpassed several older Fairfield locations we've stayed at before.||||Location and Parking||The property is conveniently located just off I-90, providing easy access for travelers. While it isn’t in Seattle, it’s close enough for visiting major attractions in the area. The hotel shares a commercial center with the Costco corporate offices, a Costco store, and a Lowe’s among major anchors, all just across the parking lot and small streets.||||Parking in front of the building is limited and tends to fill up by evening, particularly the spaces closest to the building. The opposite side of the lot is lined with EV charging stations occupying most spaces. There’s no signage indicating that only electric vehicles can park on this side, so it appears that all guests may use them, otherwise parking spaces would be insufficient for a hotel of this size.||||Facility and Room||As noted earlier, the recent Fairfield renovation gave the property a refreshed and modern look. Still, the building's age is evident in features like the low ceilings. There is only one elevator serving the entire hotel, and the hallway in front of it is quite narrow. In the mornings, when housekeeping parks their cart there, it can be difficult to exit the elevator. The elevator itself also shows signs of wear, so we often opted for the stairs when possible.||||The room size reflects 1970s standards—slightly smaller by today’s expectations. Aside from a single chair at the desk positioned directly under the wall-mounted TV, there’s no additional seating. For a family or group, this means anyone not at the desk would need to sit on the beds. That said, the room was functional and well-equipped, with a compact refrigerator and microwave—great for traveling with kids. The beds and pillows were also quite comfortable. ||||Free Hot Breakfast||The hotel provides a typical Fairfield hot breakfast with a selection that includes a couple of protein options, breads, yogurt, make-your-own waffles, juices, and other basic items. This is definitely a plus when you travel with kids. During our stay on a Sunday and Monday morning, the breakfast area wasn’t crowded, but several key items ran out and were not replenished promptly. If there’s one area that could use improvement, it’s the timeliness of refills. That said, the breakfast staff was polite. ||||Staff||Overall, the staff we encountered were polite and professional. The front desk team during check-in was friendly and welcoming. As mentioned above, the breakfast staff were courteous as well. We didn’t have interactions with other staff members during our stay.||||Overall||This is a typical Fairfield property with a refreshed look and modern features, plus convenient access to I-90. It met our expectations, and we would gladly stay here again when visiting the area. Keep up the great work!||||For travelers seeking a clean, reliable stay in a well-located spot, this property delivers solid value...
Read moreI spent two nights here recently as part of regional vacation, so 1'll add my two cents, given so few reviews on this forum. ||The Fairfield was formerly a shuttered Holiday Inn. The place went through a major remodel as part of a re-branding to Fairfield Inn. Overall, the place is perfectly fine and looks clean and fresh. Room furnishings are minimalist, and decor is neutral with beige walls and no room artwork whatsoever. To the positive, the guestroom bed was very comfortable with a quality pillowtop mattress and decent pillows. Good room darkening window blinds were also appreciated. Guestrooms had a large TV with good network assortment and access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. (There was a quirky issue in my room whereby the TV would not operate unless a wall light switch was on). The bathroom was small with limited counter space. The lights in the bathroom were VERY BRIGHT and quite distracting to sleeping guests when one person has to use the facility during overnight hours. The Fairfield and all hotels would be well served to install a small nightlight in bathrooms. A cheap but useful addition!||The complimentary breakfast offering was sort of hit or miss but adequate overall. Eggs were good. There was a very poor selection of breads & pastries. Coffee was also terrible. ||I personally found the front desk staff to be a little formal and stiff. Staff were not very personable or welcoming upon my initial check-in, nor when I passed by. They did only the minimum.||As far as the hotel's location, the place sits adjacent to sort of a marginal quality strip shopping center. There's a reasonable health food grocery store right across the street in the shopping center. Other than that, there's little else compelling in the center, nor are there any quality dining establishments within walking distance. Downtown Issaquah is about a five-minute drive and is a very pleasant destination for restaurants and has some tourist appeal. ||I honestly believe a lot of people opt to stay in Issaquah as a somewhat lessor priced alternative to Bellevue, which is VERY costly. Even Issaquah hotel rooms are pricey in the peak season. (Overpriced hotels in the Seattle Metro area, versus suburban hotels in most other US cities). If you have the financial resources, do try and stay in Bellevue if you can. It's far nicer overall and more touristy. ||Bottom line, a "B" grade overall, but a thumbs up to the Fairfield, due mostly to its remodeled, updated condition. If your travels have you out in the Eastern suburbs for one reason or another, it's a reasonable choice. I don't know that I'd want to spend more than a couple days...
Read moreApparently you can put lip stick on a pig. Newly renovated, looks great but not functional. There are 4 shelves that house a refrigerator. The refrigerator has 2 settings, 2 hour quick chill and a 9 hour setting. Don’t plan on using the refrigerator for longer than 11 hours at a time. The next shelf houses the coffee pot and coffee supplies. The 3rd shelf houses the microwave. This shelf is over 5 feet from the ground. If you are short, like me you won’t be able to use it. The last shelf has the ice bucket and drinking cups. Even standing on the 1st shelf I couldn’t reach anything on this shelf and need both items.
You have to stand inside the shower to turn it on. Be prepared to be hit with cold water. Water pressure is horrible. If you have long thick hair forget it. The bathroom counter area isn’t large enough to accommodate anything other than a toothbrush and toothpaste. Therefore I cleared the coffee pot shelf for my bathroom supplies.
The TV service barely works. Plan on using your own devices if you want to watch TV. My parents were in the next room and had the same issues. Plus their shower leaked water, flooding the bathroom. When we told the front desk they told us the shower installer incorrectly installed the showers. So why are you renting rooms with showers that leak? Aren’t you worried someone could slip and fall?!!!!
I’m disabled but don’t require a disabled room, my parents are 90 years old, despite these challenges we were assigned rooms on the second floor and the furthest distance from the elevator. For fun we counted the steps from our rooms to the elevator. One way was 250 steps. So we got everything we needed for the day, ate breakfast, and left for the day. If we didn’t do it that way it would have been 750 steps just to get out the front door. (250 to bfast, 250 back to the to get our stuff, then 250 back to the elevator). This was not fun getting our belongings to the room. We stayed here for week, the hallways got longer each day.
Needless to say, we would not...
