-Updated Aug 18th 2023- We've been supporting this business for years! Today, I had to drop the food rating to 2 stars. I was shocked to discover they had changed the traditional 'Shredded Ginger' condiments to 'Minced Ginger'! I enquired with the staff and was told the change was a 'Headquarter' decision. For folks (like myself) who are food lovers of authentic cuisines, there are traditional foods that can only be authentic when prepared the true traditional way. There are just no other way around authenticity and its taste. There are no other Chinese restaurants (be it in the Eastern or Western world) that I know of that actually serve 'Minced Ginger in Vinegar' as condiments to complement Chinese Dumplings! The taste is totally wrong! If unrectified, I may simply go back to Ding Tai Fung or any other Chinese Dim Sum restaurants for authentic style cuisine. Shredded Ginger has been used in Chinese cuisine for centuries. Hainanese chicken rice is the only chinese dish I can think of that uses minced ginger to complement its chili condiments. -Updated Dec 1st 2018- One of our favorite restaurants for steam dumplings! This branch is often busy, but we always get seats before 5pm. If you're here during peak hour, expect slower service (20-30mins wait time for food). The food portion is very small, but the price is...
Read moreIve been here tons of times. The food here is amazing. They bring the food fast and are almost always there to take our ordering sheet the second I finish writing down what were ordering. They however don't bring water refills very often unless you specifically ask most of the times I've been there. My main complaint would be that they have very inconsistent food quality and service. Most of the time it's great, but sometimes it's like they used a completely different recipe (which is normally still good, just not as good and tastes different from what I go in expecting). As far as the inconsistent service goes, one time my friends and I were there and the waiter split our bill four ways with no problems, another time a different waiter was trying to split it two ways and it took a grand total of at least 10 minutes. Another time, my family and I were there and we ordered 2 orders of pork soup dumplings (we don't like seafood), and my entire family agreed that the dumplings were shrimp, they even smelled very fishy, but the water refused to knock them off our bill or bring us a different basket when we had not even finished a single dumpling from that basket. They also have frozen dumplings which are quite cheap and are sold in bulk. The buns taste fantastic made at home, but the soup dumplings always turn out with a very gel-like coating on the outside. Overall, generally a very good restaurant with pretty short wait times even at peak hours, but they also do occasionally have off days for service and/or food quality, but it's normally fantastic and is probably my favorite restaurant in...
Read moreI placed an online to-go order and went to pick up the food when I received an email, text, and website tracking notification that all told me my order was ready. When I entered the restaurant and stood at the counter, I was not acknowledged by staff for a noticeable amount of time. Eventually, a man who had either placed an online order or was a door dasher entered the restaurant and walked over to the metal rack to the right of the front counter where the to-go orders were placed. He quickly took his order and headed out. I followed suit and held up my phone to each box and bag to confirm the order number, my name, and items matched. An employee immediately approached me and stopped me. I showed them my text notification, the email notification with the # order number and list of items, as well as the real time tracking information on the website. Two of the notifications were addressed to my first name which matched the order, and the text was sent to my phone number, which also matched the order. Despite showing the three pieces of information to prove that it was indeed mine, they told me that they needed my whole name. While this was happening, another man entered, walked pass us and picked up his to-go order and merely left out without a hitch. The employee reluctantly let me take my order. Rules determining what’s required to pick up an order are absolutely necessary, but this establishment doesn’t seem to enforce them fairly...
