I was looking for some things a little better than Taco Bell after a long day and I saw these guys had birria tacos as a special so I was super excited. I got some of the birria tacos and a burrito (paid the extra 2 dollars for one of their specials the carne asada) and a key lime pie. Order was ready right on time and the employee was pretty nice. I got home and to my -2 star disappointment, the terribly folded burrito was missing the carne asada. :( After a super long day I have no desire to go all the way back to get it remedied so unfortunately I paid 15 dollars for a square of tortilla with some beans and rice. Poorly folded burritos at places that sell mainly burritos also confuses me. Why would none of the employees either know how to fold a burrito or stop an atrocious burrito from going out. I took another star off for terrible burrito folding (ruins burrito eating experience and its a pretty easy thing to learn especially if it’s youre paid to fold burritos and the burrito was half empty to begin with). The food was okay flavorwise but I don’t know if would ever pay for it again. Taco Bell’s across the street for half the price, better folded burritos somehow, and I’ve gotten food with only occasional minor mistakes (nothing like missing the entire protein choice in a burrito). If the employees ever read these reviews, I hope you make fun of whoever sucks at folding burritos and tell them they fold burritos like a preschooler trying to make a paper airplane. Don’t be too mean about it but make sure they know that they might be better off at a McDonald’s or something where they don’t need folding skills. I don’t usually write reviews either but it was just that disappointing of a burrito I hope no one else has to witness it again.

Absolutely the worst Cafe Rio experience I have had. I used to love ordering from and eating here, however this specific location is the worst I have been too. The last time I was in (not at all close to closing time) the food in their pans looked to have been sitting there for hours, the person serving me had to scrape the pan to get anything out. The restaurant itself was a mess with specs of food and trash littered on the line. I was surprised I didn’t get myself sick from eating here. Tonight I foolishly ordered takeout and delivery via door dash from this location. It wasn’t until it arrived that I checked what Cafe Rio it was coming from. When I opened what had been packaged, I was not surprised, my burrito was ice cold, and it seemed more like slop thrown into a tinfoil bowl, my fiancée grilled chicken salad was missing … grilled chicken! And the lettuce that came with our food was not even chopped, but rather huge pieces just thrown in. The food had to be reheated and after a few bites we decided to not eat this food for fear of getting sick. This specific location seriously needs to review their basic principles of managing a clean restaurant that makes good quality food, or just shut it down if it can’t maintain that. Several recent comments and reviews echo my statements . Completely unacceptable.

Have been to this particular location of Cafe Rio at least 7-8 times over the last few months. Each time we’ve noticed the quality of food and service has declined. This last time there was almost no chicken in our chicken burrito. We really want to support our local businesses but the staff at Cafe Rio doesn’t seem to even know what’s in their own Owner’s Choice burrito. Additionally, each time we visit we are charged a different price for the same Owner’s Choice burrito. The cashiers openly complain that there’s not enough staff and morale is clearly very low here. The food “artists” don’t feel like communicating in either English or Spanish (my partner is Mexican) and act like they wish you’d just go away. Really weird vibe. Even Jack in the Box next door offers better service. We love Cafe Rio in other locations but this one is definitely a “no go” these days. We’ll stick to La Venadita next door or drive down the street to Laz’s Taco Truck - both places are always happy to have our business.

So this is the second time in a row that I've been to this location and they're completely ignoring the people waiting in line due to completing a catering order.

And when I say ignore, I mean the lady in front of me had to ask twice if they were even taking orders. Once 5 minutes after I got in line, and another time 5 minutes later. 10 minutes go by and they haven't even taken the order of anyone in line.

And outside of the times the lady in front of me asked them if they still even remembered we were here, they didn't even acknowledge our existence as people waiting in line. Not even eye contact. Rude, bizarre, and completely lacking in customer service.

I get they do catering, but their entire storefront can't just be put on hold for a catering order.

And the funny thing is, I'm writing all of this right now with my thumbs and they still haven't acknowledged me. I figured I'd stop writing when they take my order. I started writing this after waiting 10 minutes being second in line and they hadn't even taken the order of the lady in front of me.

I'm seriously running out of things to say and write and they still haven't taken my order. Lol

There's now a family behind me with kids also waiting and a couple. It's been like 20 minutes.

Finally the lady in front of me got her order taken, but no acknowledgement of myself. I'm just standing here at the beginning of the line. No one has said they'll be right with me.

Ok I just now put in my order. 😐

Edit: I'm editing to add that right as I was talking to the guy taking my order about how I don't mind if they keep the tres leches in the tin, he literally spaced out and started talking to someone on the other side of the kitchen. Like mid sentence.

I'm really not trying to be nitpicky or a Karen, but like this experience was seriously not great.

Edit 2: I see they responded to this but I am unable to respond except for this edit.

After looking at other reviews spanning months this exact thing has been an ongoing issue, so save your canned PR babble, and actually do something. So no I'm not going to accept your copy/pasted "we'll do better" response. You think we can't read every other copy/pasted response on here and see still nothing has changed, do you really think us customers are that dumb as to accept a PR response like that? I'm insulted. Talk to us like people.

For what it's worth, I used to live in Southern California and none of those locations were this bad as far as...

DO NOT EVER ORDER TO GO ORDERS!

I have ordered sooo many times and they always mess it up without fail. I go to pick up and sometimes there's entire meals missing, sometimes they just give like half the portions they should be giving. This time I'm sooo mad. I went through the entire bag in the restaurant but i didnt think i would have take every single container out to make sure that they even filled them!! Who does that?? Who puts mostly empty contairs in the bag to be picked up?? You guys charge per oz on these, thats what i should be getting. All the meals i got are being split between 5 people so I ordered enough for everyone. I paid extra for some things too because it's an additional side item and they barely filled the bottom of the cup and then put it in the bag as if i ordered dirty empty cups of sauce and dressing. It was literally EVERY SINGLE ONE. The didnt fill even one of them. Without any if the dressing or sauces this is just flavorless tough cold slices of steak and wet lettuce. It not like you forgot the sauces either you purposely filled the bottom of the container and sent that out to the customer so it would like their was dressing in the bag. Why??? AND YOU CHARGE BY OZ!! Scraping toegther what was so graciously given we had enough for 1 1/2 meals despite needing to feed five and ordering for five.litterally the dressing is the only reason we even went their because the food kinda sucks, but dressing is really good. I'm so done with this location. I dont know if they're doing this to save money but you cant charge for something and then just avoid giving that item by putting a few drops in to a 4 oz container and pretend its what i odered. You did this five times. It wasnt an accident. All of them were the exact same. Worst cafe rio I have ever been to ever. Notice that some of the good reviews are from their own employees not legitimate customers. Hope you guys get some training because this is just absurd and...
