We arrived at Palombo's around 4:00 PM on a Friday. We found the parking lot about 75% full. The restaurant has a lounge, which you enter before being seated.
We requested a booth and were seated promptly. The booth we were given was immediately inside the dining area, making the bar noise quite loud, owing particularly to one woman with a loud and obnoxious laugh, which she issued with regularity.
Our waitperson arrived almost immediately, and took our drink orders. Our drinks arrived promptly. We both ordered house salads with house dressing. My wife ordered gnocchi with marinara. I ordered chicken piccata.
The salad was wonderful. All ingredients were fresh, and contained an iceberg-spring mix lettuce combo, as well as tomato and cucumber wedges. The dressing was on the side, a very tasty balsamic vinaigrette.
Our entrees arrived just as we finished our salads. The were both piping hot. My wife reported the gnocchi was very good, but the marinara contained an excessive amount of some seasoning that she couldn't identify. My chicken piccata was quite tasty, but could have been improved if the chicken breast had been seared before introducing it to the sauce. The sauce had a pleasant lemon butter taste, but was very thin and was not able to stay with the pasta. The linquine pieces were short, make loading a fork with them very difficult.
Service was prompt, professional and courteous. The food was good, but some improvements could be made. The restaurant was clean and seating comfortable. That atmosphere, due to our proximity to the lounge, was pub-like, loud and boisterous. Next time, we will ask to be seated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA real š gem. When I went in, the restaurant was at full capacity. The staff were EXTREMELY busy. I am a very patient person though, and I had a good feeling when I went in. The hostess seated me pretty soon, and I did have to wait a while afterwards, but I was not irritated about it because the server bothered to come by and let me know that she would be back soon to get my order. That is all that I really ask. Places get very busy, understandable. But as long as they ACKNOWLEDGE that I exist, I'm OK with that. She got most of my order correct. She listened to me and fixed it when I mentioned one item that she forgot. Some places actually want to argue or say that you didn't say that. Didn't have any rudeness or attitude like that at all. The service was outstanding. She made sure that I was taken care of, but did not harass me every 10 minutes about it. The food was also outstanding. CLEAN, FRESH salad. š„ No dirty or old pieces in it. They also dried it off well before presentation. The soda was not flat and tasted good. Loved the bread! š And they put REAL butter in the basket for you, not some low-quality, hydrogenated, crap margarine spread. I was wishing for some lasagna. Perhaps I just didn't see it? Entirely possible. Saw the ravioli plate where you can get cheese, beef, or a combination of both types of ravioli. I got it with the spaghetti sauce and got mushrooms on it for a little bit extra. Delicious. š¤¤š Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it. Excellent restaurant. Go there if you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hate posting negative reviews but I felt like it needed to be said for others benefit. We were there early for dinner. I knew going in the atmosphere was not going to be what we were looking for. Loud rock music is not ideal but okay. We wanted good Italian food. Margret, our server was fabulous. She was the best part of our experience. The wedding soup was very good. Tender meatballs and flavorful broth. Thatās where the good ended. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. Margret informed us it was going to come out with our meal and asked if that was okay. She also offered to cancel it. That was nice of her and Iāve never had that happen. Most places just bring it and donāt even care. We assured her that was fine. 3 shrimp served with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. The breading was way too sweet. Like artificially sweet. And only 3? She actually comped them and Iām glad she did. I had the Penne Al la vodka with chicken. Absolutely tasteless. Zero flavor. The pasta wasnāt even salted. My wife had the pasta trio. Each portion on her plate was also lacking in any flavor. And the sauce is watery and also no flavor. Our mother had the broiled pork chops. They were overcooked and dry. The seasoning was okay. Her pilaf was good. A bit dry also. The portions were good and the service was quick. Our bill was also reasonable. I just would not any reason to return. I know many people love this place but I would have to question...
