I recently received a Chemex coffee maker for Christmas and being a coffee noob, have been traveling to different coffee roasters to try and find somewhere to purchase coffee from. Having only Starbucks as a reference point, I was anxious to try lots of different roasts to find something I would like.
I inquired about a sampler pack so I could try a variety of types and see which one I would like best. They advised I needed to pre-pay and they would have it in by Thursday - Friday at the latest. (This was on a Saturday). I also picked up their standard Sweet Spot House blend, and it's delicious. They also said they would call and let me know when it's there. I hadn't heard anything by the following Saturday so I dropped in and thought maybe they had just forgotten to call, or had my number wrong.
The person said they weren't sure why, but for whatever reason - they didn't have it, but they would get it sorted out on Monday and let me know Tuesday or so.
I hadn't heard anything by Thursday and went out of town, but was sure that by the time I returned on Sunday I would be able to pick up a wonderful variety pack filled with all sorts of wondrous aromas and flavors.
I checked the website which lists the locations and noticed that none of them have phone numbers listed. That would have been nice so I could check and see if what I ordered was in stock before making the trip, right? No worries - I'm sure that after just over two weeks they'll have what I ordered. I mean - the turnaround time I was given was 4 days.
As soon as I arrived home from my trip, I dropped my bags off at the door, and quickly drove to Bold Bean before they closed.
Once again they went into the back and came back empty handed.
The baristas and employees are all super friendly, and the coffee that I did purchase is great. But the lack of communication and follow through on orders is disappointing.
If you aren't able to put together a sample pack - don't offer it. If you're going to offer it, and not have it when you say you will - notify the customer and let them know that there's a delay and when it will be ready. Read moreI have to give this place a 1 star on behalf of my entire family for the customer service we have experienced now twice. My brother and sister in law travel down twice a year from Boston and are always excited to go grab a Bold Bean Iced Chai and Iced Mocha. We always order these drinks with light ice. The reason for this is the ice is so heavy in the regular size and this basically cuts out half of the ounces you pay for. Today we ordered 2 Iced Chai Lattes which light ice which were then handed to us 3/4 filled to the top. We kindly asked the barista to top us off as we didn't want to add any more milk or cream to it to dilute it. In the past we have heard them say this issue was because of a "ratio" but today she pulled out a huge galloon of chai premixed with milk and then topped us off reluctantly. There was definitely some attitude from this request but we decided to let it go. Next my brother received his 'light iced- iced mocha" (photo attached) which was pretty close to the halfway mark. He proceeded to ask the two baristas standing there "Is this typically what you give when someone asks for light ice? I just need clarification here for future reference". They said "Yes, it's our recipe". We feel this was a total lack of business character and customer service. We understand that Bold Bean may not be able to operate at the level Starbucks does (which tops everything off no matter what type of ice you request). It felt cheap and snobbish. Read moreUpdate 2025 March: I changed my rating for the Coffee place, as they improved their service. We came to the Bold Bean Coffee in Jacksonville for the first time, as they are nicely located and they have an outside seating area. We arrived before 08:00am and non of the outside tables were setup or even cleaned. Only 2 table had chairs! The whole area could use some cleaning too, so does the windows and parts of the inside. Maybe I m too picky but for me it was not clean. One barrister welcomed us and took the order. The 2nd one prepared the coffee. Both coffees came on time and looked good. We just got handed the cups with no saucer or spoon and had to grab those from the counter. Unfortunately - I believe the coffee were not 100% Arabica, as I believe I tasted Ethiopia beans. Those beans have their very own taste and not everyone likes it. But this does not influence my rating. Long Story short...Great Location, nicely done on the inside. But it could use a good owner or manager to bring it up to standard, that customer deserve and expect. Please take this rating as constructive criticism. Good Luck...
