My husband and I have loved going to true food over the years. But unfortunately, we had the worst experience tonight. First, we were seated somewhere and my husband asked to be in a booth instead. We got moved to a booth and then our server just left us because she probably was upset we wanted to move. Finally someone came. We both ordered burgers. Took a long time. Got our food, my husbands burger has no sauce or any mushrooms on it and over cooked. Our burgers buns are super dried out and honestly the worst tasting burgers we've ever had there. The waitress goes back to ask about his burger. The manager comes out later (after my husband ate his burger) and gave us a little bowl of mushrooms that goes on pizza. Apparently they ran out of stuff in the back and just put whatever they had left on the burger and did not care to explain that to us in the first place. So the manager offers us free dessert? We continue telling him that this burger was just not good and for $18 NOT at all what we expected. So he finally offered to pay the burger. So then we get our dessert… the brownie is tiny and got the tiniest little dollop (about the size of a quarter, no joke) of ice cream that was almost completely melted!! I get the brownie every time we go and have never got something that looked that pitiful. I wish I had a picture. We looked over at the lady near us with the prettiest frozen scoop over her brownie. Needless to say, it was very upsetting and we have no plans...

We visited the Tru kitchen in Jacksonville FL at St John’s town center and had the WORST experience. After we were seated our waitress Kelsie’s energy was off when she came to our table. She was very rushed when telling us about popular dishes and when we asked for her recommendations. We felt as if she really didn’t want to wait on us. She was quite friendly with the other tables but was not with us. We are African American and very well polished and professional and felt that may have been why her energy was off. We asked for sweetener or honey for the Pink Lemonade and she told my niece that honey wouldn’t go well with it so I asked for agave and she abruptly told me that they don’t have agave. Instead of suggesting a way to sweeten it we had to ask. After she ignored us for awhile we decided to leave. When she finally came back to our table we asked for the check. She stated “I can’t split the check for the pitcher of drink”. We were taken aback because we didn’t ask her to split the check we asked for the check. We had had enough and asked for the manager. We explained to the manager, Maddy, about our experience and she was very apologetic. We were visiting our niece who lives here and has frequented this place and she brought me here for my birthday. I didn’t have the opportunity to experience Tru kitchen because of Kelsie’s energy and her attitude. When we asked for the check she appeared to be relieved or happy that we were leaving. What a...

Arrived early at the bar at 530 for happy hour for a 6:15 rsvp for 3. First round of drinks was fine, DOWNHILL from there. Even with three staff standing at the bar and only 4 guests (2 parties) seated at the bar, took 20 mins to get anyone’s attention to order HH apps at 5:50. Only ordered edamame dumplings and hummus which didn’t come out until 6:20pm. The restaurant couldn’t have even been at 20% capacity.

After getting seated for our dinner reservation, the waiter didn’t provide any utensils and took another 20 minutes to come over to take our order. I was absolutely shocked at the number of staff compared to the number of people in the restaurant. Overall, a complete lack of sense of urgency and attentiveness for the guests. I’d love to offer grace for what happened, but there was simply no excuse for how long it took for someone to simply come over and check on our table and see if we needed anything. Couldn’t even get salt and pepper (no checking on our table at all) once the entrées arrived. After all of that lack of attention, the waitress was all over our table laying it on thick with apologies while bringing out the check 2 hours into service. Unfortunate but no wonder there is a town center restaurant no where near capacity on a Friday night. Everyone else must’ve figured this out long before our party arrived.

Food was generally good but soured by the experience: edamame dumplings, hummus, all star burger,...

A great unique restaurant where you’ll feel good afterwards. Atmosphere: We ate outdoors and it was great, nice cool breeze during this time and day so we enjoyed it. They could add a subtle background music but they didn’t even with outdoor speakers. The volume was low, maybe because it wasn’t too busy around the time. Service: It was great, we came on a Sunday afternoon, not too busy and since we had a pet they made outdoor accommodations with a short wait time. The host and server were great as well, provided for our needs at any given moment. Food: We ordered several things but I would recommend getting the roasted Brussel Sprouts, Roasted Acorn Squash Flatbread and herb hummus, all were delicious. I ordered a margarita pizza which was filling hut didn’t feel bloated afterwards either so that was great. My wife and others ordered a grilled chicken avocado wrap which was okay, definitely missing the hot grilled chicken since it was cold and maybe also a sauce that would complete it. Verdict: If you want a healthy spot to eat, you’ll enjoy this place, if you’re looking to get full and bloated, try another restaurant. This place is definitely somewhere I would come again and try other entrees in the future the next time I visit.

TrueKitchen in Saint John’s Town Center is a must and with a happy hour that goes from 3 to 6 what’s not to love! The environment is farm to table chic but the food is so very very well curated. I recommend the edamame dumplings as their sauce is a beautiful vinegar and mint. The Dip duo is also a great companion as they have hummus but actually blend with fresh pesto. So smart. The staff was hands down so very great - we kind of returned a second time for them. Entirely on brand were the awesome duo of Andrea & Abbey Andrea was great at communication and really knows how to describe ingredients with zest and intelligence. There was a no pressure tone they created too as we bough bottle after bottle of Sauvignon Blanc ice cold from New Zealand. Abby is so fun and vibes well with everyone who sat down. She’s funny and also knows how to describe menu items really well. It’s good to see and makes people want to chill when environments such as these are set. You both set the temperature.
