My girlfriend and I were craving some Indian food. We made the trip to this place cause it seemed decent and had good reviews. When we first sat down, nothing seemed out of place. Staff was friendly and we were itching to eat. We ate our appetizer, and right after she set all of our food down, I saw a dashing brown object zip across our table and onto a chair. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. A cockroach!!!!!!! We tried to convince ourselves that it wasn't what we thought, but I had 0 doubts that this was a baby cockroach. I was so disgusted. I didn't dare to touch or eat any of the food in front of me. I could feel myself getting more and more nauseas as I was forced to watch the cockroach crawl up and down the wall next to me. It's long antennas feeling everything around it. I told my girlfriend, I'm sorry, but I need to get out of here now. I felt incredibly itchy and immensely uncomfortable. I hate confrontation, or making a scene at a restaurant in regards to my food, but this is something I couldn't stand. The host walked up to our table and noticed i didn't touch anything. I said "Well because there's cockroach right next to me" I pointed to the wall (where the cockroach was zipping up and down) and his response was "Oh, a small one?" As if the fact that it's smaller makes it better. Um, I'm not trying to stick around to meet its parents sir. He tried giving me a speech about how they just sprayed for roaches, and tried to assure me the roach didn't go on my dishes. Yeah. No thanks. I said "I'm sorry but I don't want to eat this. I can't eat this." He then told me not to worry about it and they'd take care of the food. We left promptly. I understand this is somebody's livelihood, and I'm sure they once took pride in their restaurant/food. But once the lights go out at night, hundreds of cockroaches crawl all over whatever they please. Including food, dishes, utensils, and counters. Because with roaches where there's one, there's a hundred. This is egregiously disgusting and an insane health hazard to the public. To be aware that you have a roach infestation, and still decide to operate like normal is beyond me. They should be ashamed you would serve this food to people. You could quite literally kill somebody or have given them a terrible disease. And on the practical side, it's just straight nasty. I feel bad for all the previous people on here that ate it and loved it. Cockroaches thrive in gross, humid, unhygienic places. They need to address this issue ASAP!!!!!! And close down shop in the mean time.

This place is located right on Devon street and serves some of the worst Indian foods you can have. The service includes only one person! who seats you, takes orders, serves, clean, and brings the check. Now, lets come to the main factor, the actual food! The food tastes like leftovers and like food which has been cooked by amateur Chefs. The paneer kadhai curry I ordered was (recommended by the server) just a dish of diluted ketchup with Paneer cubes in it, tasted horrific. The second dish I ordered was Dal Makhani (again recommended by the server) and again, tasted like leftover and the Makhani flavor was not there at all. The naan bread, was so hard and dry that we were barely able to eat it. Then we also tried the Chicken Biryani, well, I must say that it was the worst Biryani you can ever have. The rice quality was bad, the flavors were too bad and the smell was even worst! I mean after being in business for so many years how can you mess up such basic Indian dishes? how? This restaurant really needs to look into what they are serving their customers or soon someone will either get sick by their food or they will just run out of business.

Great taste! Mutton dum biryani was flavorful and tasty! I’m usually not much of an Indian/ Pakistani biryani fan- preferring the Sri Lankan bold flavored biryani- however this one was light saffron infused and had a great end kick of flavor. Not greasy at all. The Chana bhatura was my favorite. I’ve always been a fan of the deep fried crispy “bread”. Puffy hot right out of the oil it’s a hot pocket of oily goodness! The Chana “ chickpea” curry was really flavorful. Would have liked a little more gravy to sop up with the bhatura. The chicken manchurian was not a style I had had before- to me it was a fusion of a chili chicken and a chicken 65. While it wasn’t a traditional Manchurian I was used to- it was quite tasty. Bold flavour- with a drier spice. Overall we would order from here again!

When I asked the girl about the order she said 5 minutes and 25 minutes later the order not ready, when I told her 25 minutes ago you told me 5 minutes she said it’s getting ready, 5 minutes later she came over with the order handing it to me without saying anything just attitude instead of saying very easy word “sorry” , I want add one more thing , after I post my review about what happened with me in the restaurant , some one called me from the restaurant and said did you add review about restaurant, I said yes , guess what he started threatening me saying if you did not remove your review right now I will call grub hub on you to make a problem for you. Can anyone imagine that?!!!! In the beginning I expected he was calling to apologize but he called me to threaten me. I have the phone number that he called me from and I took screenshot for the call duration as a prove of the time and the call and it’s very easy to make investigations about the call and the number . I have bachelorette degree and I’m software engineer but as a new immigrant has to work, yes I’m working as a delivery driver and I'm proud of myself to be working as a driver and really I wished if he was calling to apologize, this is the third time and last time I will reply on those people, YES I AM DELIVERY DRIVER , I do not know what did you mean in your reply on my review that I’m driver ?! Is this mean that you treat the delivery driver differently than the other human? Is the delivery driver less than anyone else?!! Is that mean you don’t respect us ?! Is that mean you calibrate the people based on their profession ?! Ok that’s fine , anyone will read the review and your reaction will know who you are before deciding to go to your restaurant. Again it was very easy to say sorry for the delay to say sorry for threatening me in the phone and asking me to delete my review for insulting human doing his job professionally. This is the fourth time I will reply because you insist to say something wasn’t right and accuse me falsely in your reply , it was Saturday night rush hour and you were serving only ONE TABLE and any one will swing by this restaurant will see if you are busy or not and no one ask you for balloons or celebrating me , you sarcastic comment show again who you are and all what I asked for just respect and be professional when something wrong happen you have to handle the situation in professional and respectful way not to show this attitude or threatening behaviour or discrimination towards anyone or start making fun on me because no one ever in the united state will accept your behavior and your reactions, and again ONE POLITE WORD “sorry” was enough to end this conversation but you are insisting to show everyone who you are and what will happen to them in case any conflict happens with you. How will you react with any complaint. Finally I’m not going to waste my time with you , you...

Dear Visitor's

Please read my review carefully, it will give you enough reasons to avoid this restaurant.

We were on trip to Chicago and searched for Indian restaurant for lunch. Google suggested this restaurant as it was very close to my location.

The restaurant name "Oberoi" had created a hope of a good restaurant but it turned-out a third class ( I really mean it ) restaurant. Staff member looks like from Pakistan ( but i do not care that ), but the ambiance of restaurant was below standard :

Tables : Paper cover on table top , I had never seen such below standard table cover. Chair cover: Very old and dirty, Plates : Very dirty, seems not changed since years. Food scattered on the floor.

Now lets talk about taste, because that matters most.

We ordered Paneer Tikka masala & garlic Naan for dine-in and ordered Chicken Korma and kadhai Paneer for carryout.

We were only guest in that restaurant on that Sunday afternoon, after ordering food, i left my seat for washroom and accidentally i turned towards kitchen and was shocked to see the preparation.

1: They opened Frozen Naan packet ( Similar Frozen Naan packet that we get from Indian Grocery ) and Ready to eat Paneer Tikka masala.

I still thought positive that they may do better job with ready to eat paneer and Frozen Naan, but it turned-up horrible.

The Naan had no taste and The paneer Tikka masala was tasting same that i cooked in my hotel room ( in microwave ) last night.

I was very disappointed by the food but somehow finished it as we were very hungry. We had also ordered Chicken Korma & Kadai Paneer initially , so that was also ready for us at billing counter. My inner soul was compelling me to argue with the staff for such pathetic food but i avoided.

In Night, when we opened chicken curry and Kadhai Paneer for dinner, it was smelling as if it was made few days back, we threw them in the trash.

......................My request to restaurant owner -----------------------

Please do not disrespect "Indian food", I am not sure whether you are from India or Pakistan but if you are selling your food by brand name as indian Food then work hard to bring taste in it and we come to restaurant to have better food not for FROZEN NAAN & to eat READY...
