Mussel & Burger Bar — Restaurant in Jeffersontown

I've been to this location once before with our son and was excited to visit with my wife.... I should have left the positive experience alone because today was a fail, not totally because my wife liked her MBB chicken sandwich but the fries were limp and not hot. I got the Good Ole Bacon Cheeseburger, I ordered it MW, crisp Bacon no lettuce or tomato (it comes with lettuce, tomato and onion) and fries "as well done as possible without burning them..... what i received was a burger that was so overcooked and dry that it was like biting into a cardboard box that was completely black on the outside from sitting on a very hot surface too long with bacon that was not only crisp, it was like charcoal and a mountain of lettuce that appeared to have sat in heat for a couple of days. The fries were not at all crisp, they were actually limp and cold.

The restaurant was almost empty, I wonder if the food is the reason or if this was an anomaly because as I mentioned, my wife liked her chicken sandwich. I guess we'll give it another try sometime in the future but it won't be anytime soon.

Normally I would have sent my meal back but it took soooooo long to get it the first time I honestly didn't want to wait another 35 minutes to possibly get the same plate of overcooked food so I ate enough to get rid of the hunger and left the rest on the plate.

Although she wasn't seen often, Tabetha was very pleasant and professional, I left her a good tip because she isn't responsible for the cooking although one could argue that she could have recognized that the burger and bacon were visually burned and the fries were clearly not cooked as requested but I know that servers don't make much and I wasn't going to be a...

Disclaimer : The food here rocks and our meals were memorable . But i couldn't fully give this place 4 stars because of the terrible service. My husband and I had gone here for the first time on a Saturday evening ,granted weekends are generally the busiest times for restaurants i think our table was just invisible . We ordered the Sweet & Spicy Calamari for an appetizer , we have ordered calamari at many places and its usually hand breaded /deep fried. But this time we tasted 3-4 different flavors that brought out the freshness of the squid. It was just a great combination of flavors rolled into one, the tangy meets spicy is a nice twist on plain calamari. Then i ordered the Blue Cheese Beer Pancetta Mussels, since this place is known for well burgers and mussels. My husband ordered a burger with side of steak truffle fries, the fries came out with my meal which i thought was odd.

There had been other tables around us with larger parties, and their food had been served to them first which i am sure they were a higher priority ( i get that ). But our wait time for both meals were about an hour long , our server would disappear from time to time so if we wanted a refill of our drinks or had a question we were just kind of stuck. I understand Seafood can take time to prepare but i could see other tables ordering food similar to ours. Being patient did not mean much because our sever didn't say "Sorry your food will be out soon " ,nothing was said she would just pass by and look at us. POOR SERVICE KILLED GOOD FOOD AND MY DATE NIGHT! My girlfriend and I came here for a date night two weeks ago, and we probably won't be back. First, after waiting 20 minutes we were seated at a table in an overflow room that was extremely wobbly, and didn't even have the correct place settings. I had hoped to have a nice dining experience with my girlfriend, but coupled with the rickety table and being seated next to a party with 3 loud children that were constantly running around the table, this went out the window.

When our waiter arrived, he wasn't in uniform like the rest of the staff, he was wearing a UK tshirt, and constantly forgot basic things like refills on water (we ordered mixed drinks as well) requests for things like ketchup for French fries, etc. We ordered appetizers to start, we also put in our orders for entree's at the same time and specifically asked that the appetizer be completed before the main entrees were served so that we could enjoy hot food. Our appetizers (Korean wings and Mussels) took a while to come, understandable, but we were surprised when not 5 minutes later our main entrees also arrived at the small rickety table. This meant that our food got cold because we could only eat so fast.

The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because the food was good, the poor service killed the experience. When I politely asked to speak with the manager to address the service short comings, I was told that they were not available. Rather than pursue the issue, (remember, we are trying to have a nice date night) I paid and we left.
