A New Gem in the City: Desi Adda

Last night 4/14/2024, I had the pleasure of dining at Desi Adda, a brand new Indian restaurant nestled in the heart of Jersey city. The warm welcome we received from the owner, who recently opened his doors, set the tone for a fantastic evening.

What truly impressed me was the menu. The owner clearly put a lot of thought into differentiating Desi Adda from other fast food Indian restaurants in the area. Instead of the typical all-encompassing selection, he presented a curated list of dishes that highlighted unique regional specialties and innovative takes on classic favorites. This focus on variety made it exciting to explore the menu as a family and group of friends, with something to tantalize everyone's taste buds.

The food itself lived up to the promise of the menu. We opted for a selection of multiple small plates to share, allowing us to experience a delightful array of flavors. Each dish was meticulously prepared, bursting with fresh ingredients and showcasing a wonderful depth of spice. The milk and ice-cream shakes were wonderful. It was clear that the owner's passion for Indian cuisine shines through in every bite.

Beyond the delicious food, the atmosphere at Desi Adda was inviting and comfortable. The open layout created a sense of energy, perfect for a lively gathering with friends and family. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering explanations of the dishes and catering to our every need.

Overall, our experience at Desi Adda was truly memorable. It's a hidden gem in the city, offering a fresh and exciting take on Indian food. If you're looking for a vibrant atmosphere, impeccable service, and food that will tantalize your taste buds, then Desi Adda is a must-try near Newark Ave, in...

Let me start by saying that this is my third day in a row visiting this place, and I still can’t get enough! That alone speaks volumes about how amazing this spot is. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how much everyone working here genuinely cares about the experience they’re creating. Their passion and attention to detail are unmatched.

I’ve been hooked on their pani puri—it’s so good, I’ve ordered it every single day! Each bite is packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. And let me tell you, their cheese and jam sandwich is absolutely to die for. It’s such a unique combination, and it’s executed so well that it’s now one of my all-time favorites. The menu as a whole is beautifully presented, making it hard to pick just one thing to try.

What truly makes this place special, though, is the staff. Every single person here goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They bring such positive energy, and their passion for what they do is infectious. It’s not just about the food—it’s the warmth and care they bring to every interaction that makes each visit unforgettable.

If you’re looking for a place with amazing food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a staff that genuinely makes you feel like family, this is it. I can’t recommend it enough—this spot is...

Pani puri was good but servers are extremely rude and unwilling to serve pani puri it seems like!! Better to eat at home instead of face such rude service again! And oh of course miserly server lying and doubting everyone that comes to eat here about if they paid or not. Better to stay at home than go to such a crook place where they doubt people after payment. Maybe they are used to doing such scams and lying and cheating hence doubting people about payment so much and arguing about serving sukha puri when they had not served it surely!! People come here for convenience but such rude mannerism and cheap mentality is going to keep decent people away from this shop for sure!

And yes Bombay Frankie or any of the Frankies are not authentic at all, they are served in tortillas and taste is not authentic at all and bread for Wada pav is stale.

Main two owners or managers seem very rude and doubtful of everyone about payment and only remaining 1 lady and another guy serving pani puri sometimes seem to be a bit mannerful and welcoming of customers!! Not worth the...

A hidden gem for Indian street food. I was in New Jersey, Indian street area, and visited this place and I am really glad I did. This place has an extensive menu of Indian street food mostly vegetarian. You will find something to your liking. The place has limited seating though. The staff was extremely helpful and helped us with our choices. They were individually focused on customers which is rare. Had a Dabeli and Vada paav, two of the popular Indian street foods. Both were amazing.! In drinks, I had masala soda and it was amazing have something so close to Indian street masala soda. The place can have accessibility issue as it has a single stair to get into the restaurant. No restrooms. The place was not too busy, seating was available for 8-10 people. I recommend this place for its amazing food and not the ambiance. Street parking was an option if traveling via car and there are a lot of paid parking lots at walking distance.

I recently visited Desi Adda, and I must say, it’s a hidden gem for Indian street food lovers! Every bite took me on a flavorful journey back to India. Their **Dabeli** is out of this world—perfectly spiced, with a sweet and tangy chutney that ties all the flavors together. The **Samosa Sandwich** is a genius combination of crunchy, savory goodness with the freshness of veggies and chutney in every bite. But the real standout for me was the **Dabang Wada Pav**—a spicy, flavorful powerhouse that packs a punch without overwhelming the palate. Each bite was a symphony of textures and heat, just what you’d expect from authentic Indian street fare. And of course, the **Pani Poori** was a delightful experience—crisp, tangy, and oh-so-refreshing. The warm hospitality and vibrant ambiance of Desi Adda just added to the experience. If you're craving authentic, delicious Indian snacks, Desi Adda should be your go-to spot. Highly recommend!
