Modcup is an excellent third wave shop, decor is beautiful, and a variety of pourovers are available as well as lattes. The senate place location is lovely. Baristas are friendly and personable, at all locations, owners are nice, and all are passionate and willing to talk coffee with you. Coffee is sourced well and fairly and is not stale.

These things can be said about a lot of coffee places, though. Modcup stands out as being bold, innovative, and unafraid to grow in unexpected ways. Whether it be new latte recipes, a new roast, or cascara chocolate bars (which are EXCELLENT), there is always something happening at modcup that makes monotonous tasting profiles and experiences impossible.

The roaster is very knowledgeable and roasts beans to their potential. I have to disagree with others who haven’t preferred some of them. Obviously some batches will be better than others; but the willingness to try new things with roasts and with a particular batch of beans is something that is lovely and unique and will ensure growth for years to come. Coffee here has never had an underdeveloped tasting profile for me; I’m often impressed by the profiles achieved.

We we're passing by and decided to visit this coffee shop, that was a good decision. The place itself was very nice and cute. I specifically lived the little live flowers in mini vases on almost each table. That was a very gentle and cute touch. British guy (he probably is the owner) served us. We had 1 iced latte, 1 earl gray loose tea, and an apple turnover (which didn't was without cinnamon, the way we like). Late and tea were very good. The apple turnover was very-very fresh, and swmi sweet (I believe it didn't even have sugar added, just a sweet apple or maybe very little sugar). It tastes amazing. Tea selection was poor which is understandable, because mostly people prefer coffee. My choices were turmeric and ginger or Earl Gray. I love earl gray, so no problem there for me. Bathrooms were very clean and pretty, actually. I recommend visiting Modcup coffee. It has nice sitting area whether you come for a cup of coffee or to work on your laptop. There are plenty of outlets to charge out phone or other devices, cozy sitting. Also they sell Tshirts, mugs etc here. Parking. Free street parking Jersey...

Living upstairs to this coffee shop. Their coffee tastes bitterly, which is fine cuz every body has a different taste for coffee. This is also why I always ask for extra milk for a no-ice Latte. I have never been extra charged regarding this request. But today, the owner told me I have to pay more if I want extra milk, which is also fine to me despite that I have not been charged before. So my first suggestion is, either you train your workers to make the price consistent, or don't raise the price to whatever you want. In addition to this, I received a straw with lots of wrinkles today, so I asked for another straw cuz this one was broken. The owner carefully double-checked the straw and claimed that "no, this straw is fine". I have to ask, so a straw with numerous wrinkles is normal to this coffee shop? I just ask for another straw and all you did was to inspect it and tell the customer "oh dear, you are so wrong"? Anyway, all these cheap actions just make me feel disrespectful and will not come back again and hope other customers can all see this review to recognize how cheap this...
