I recently visited Atul Bakery in Jersey city, and unfortunately, my encounter with the staff left me deeply dissatisfied. Allow me to share the specifics of my experience:

Misleading Promises: The staff initially agreed to create a cake design that was on display. However, when I picked up the cake, it was plain and lacked the promised design. Their excuse? “It’s at the chef’s discretion.” This inconsistency was frustrating and misleading. Lack of Apology: Instead of apologizing for the oversight, the staff members were argumentative. Their dismissive attitude made me feel unwelcome and undervalued as a customer. Customization and Size Confusion: The staff seemed unsure about customization options and cake sizes. As a customer, I expected clarity and accurate information, but their responses were vague and contradictory. Pricing Inconsistency: When I asked to see the price sheet regarding customization, they presented something different from what they had previously mentioned. Their lack of consistency raised concerns about transparency and honesty. Policy Ambiguity: When I questioned their practices, they claimed to follow unwritten policies. They talk about "rules and policies" but nothing is written, only verbally articulated and forced on the customers to believe. As a customer, I believe clear, documented policies are essential for fair and consistent service. Empathy and Training: Both employees lacked empathy and failed to prioritize customer satisfaction. Proper training regarding bakery procedures and effective communication with the chef are clearly lacking. In summary, this was the worst customer service experience I’ve encountered, especially for the price you pay for the product. I have no intention of returning to Atul Bakery. New Bakery alert !⚠️🚨

I heard about this place recently from my friends and decided to give it a go!

Ambience: The store has that modern Indian vibe and does transport one back to the motherland for a while forgetting that you are in the US. You can argue that it's the same for all the places on Newark ave but this feels more of a modern Indian store straight out of an Indian metropolitan city

Service: The staff is very polite and helpful while being patient as I was browsing around the food shelf. The service was quick! But got to try them out during rush hours 😅

Food: I ordered Paneer puff and Royal chocolate pastry.

Paneer puff: To my surprise it was piping hot and was good.. the spice level was good and definitely worth having.

Royal chocolate pastry: After a long long time.. I literally got that Indian pastry feeling after having the first bite. The chocolate was rich and the texture was great while being true to its name also being fresh enough. I wonder if this is one of their best sellers!

To conclude, the bakery is good on pocket with affordable rates.. the products are promising and the place has a great potential but in order to truly succeed in the long run they'll have to keep up with the consistency and the quality too. Please stay away from this cake shop!! I have visited to this shop to buy a cake for a friend (Man). Person who took my order written name top of my cake without asking color and wrote it in purple color. When I asked how you can write in purple for a Man without asking. He excuses “this is the only color we have”. It’s utter surprising the cake shop doesn’t have any other color. So called owner who tried to teach me that it is gender neutral color. So we have written it without asking.All the employees in the shop jumped in to heated argument with me and try to teach just to cover their mistake.In top of that they don’t know how to write in top of cake. Their handwriting is like a school beginner’s. I always prompt local shops but if you want to do business with this WORST ever attitude, please…..
