Smorgasbar — Restaurant in Jersey City

Let me put it this way, a great location with bunch of jerks working here; there is nothing professional about them and customer service is not something on their priority list. As per their webpage, Sunday closing time is 8 pm. While entering, when we asked the bouncer, he confirmed 8 pm as the closing time. The last call was announced shortly after 7 pm and then suddenly, at 7:30 pm, they started annoucing that we are closed now and everyone MUST leave. They pushed everyone out, and did not even let us finish our drinks. When we asked to give us a few mins to quickly finish the drinks, we were thretened and were told that they will throw our drinks out if we don't leave immediately.

One of the customers told a bouncer that your website shows closing time as 8 pm then why are you throwing us out at 7:30 pm. His response was "do I look like a guy to put hours on website".

I hope someone from their management/owners is taking a note of such treatment and not let this place turn into a...

The view is as good as it could get, however I am so disappointed in the garbage food that was served at a premium price of $35. I personally believe that the managers are price gouging customers that will come for the view and knowingly serve them horrendous quality food thus making very high profit margins.

I ordered a Bratwurst and a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The menu says they both come with "chips", so I asked if one of the chips could be replaced with fries and was told "yes no problem". I was actually charged for the fries and the chips were literally over the counter bagged chips that were bland.

The Bratwurst meat had a weird taste and texture. The bread was so oily, almost as if it was buttered. The chicken sandwich was AWFUL. The chicken cutlet was straight from the freezer and the sandwich was dry - I have eaten better food at a school cafeteria.

Management should actually be embarrassed to serve this food and charge such a high price, especially with so much competition...

The Lutze was a fantastic and a beautiful place to host our event. We were extremely happy that we choice to hold our event here. Everything from the gorgeous scenery facing NYC skyline to the amazing staff, was all just extraordinary. I had my gf birthday party here and it was an amazing time for everyone that attended. The manager- Deidre was extremely polite, kind and delightful to work with. She was very understanding even when we arrived a bit late. She helped organize the entire event without any difficulty. She explained all the details of the event and just over all made it easy to organize the event. She was awesome and amazing to work with. The staff that hosted us was just as great. They were polite, kind, respectful and extremely helpful throughout the night. They provided great service and helped us set up even. We were so grateful we got to do our event here. We highly recommend the Lutze and will be holding our future...
