OVERHYPED TACOS & NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
Let me first start by saying I really wanted to like this place. I thought like everyone because of the popularity through social media it would live up to its name! I came during the lunch rush and expected to be busy, but not overbearing and a complete sardin fest! Waited for about 20 min to order even though there were about 5 people in front. I gathered my order together while I waited, but realized how tables were so crowded with at least 5/6 people at a 4 seated table. Mind you there is a table inches away from the door. Nevertheless, I ordered and realized they had no tables or bar stool seating and a continuous rush of people coming in. So, I thought to wait but people were already standing in door ways, restrooms, and near the kitchen. The occupancy was beyond the limit and should have come first before serving! Customers should not have to play musical chairs to sit at a table to enjoy a meal they paid for.
FOOD
On top of the wait to get to the register I waited another 20 min to get the food. Please note it is TACOS!!! I had the tacos asada and it was not what I expected. The avocado was overwhelming with no flavor, drowning the taco, and the meat was so chargrilled you tasted burnt pieces in your mouth with the overpouring of pepper versus flavored grilled meat. The child's plate was NOTHING exciting typical quesadilla and fries. The Pork rinds were given while you waited but they were so overly dry you had no choice but to put tons of hot sauce to water it down and eat it in addition to drinking your beverage.
PRICING
Let me say the pricing for this meal is more than you would expect to pay for tacos, quesadillas, tortas etc for the area. In addition to can sodas being almost close to $3 is outrageous! The total amount of a few tacos, child plate , and one other item was $40.
OVERALL REVIEW
I traveled across the city to try this place and a complete regret. This is not a business where you get what you pay for and it is disappointing for being a first time mom and pop place. The business owner needs to focus on occupancy, temperature inside the business, organization, and how to handle business rush! Otherwise, I can see this business having violations and liabilities in the future!
IF YOU WANT TACOS YOU ARE BETTER OFF at your local food truck for half the price and less issues.
DO NOT BELIEVE SOCIAL MEDIA not everyone...
Read moreI saw this place all over social media and I was very excited to give it a try. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The food is okay. However, it’s not the mind blowing experience everyone hypes it out to be. Tacos are not necessarily better than any average place. The carne asada is good but the chicken really lacks in flavor. The aguas frescas are average as well. The prices are definitely on the higher side. The cashier was on her phone while taking my order and seemed distracted. However, my biggest complaint is about the experience itself. To put it simply, they are stretched way too thin. It seems as if they take on more than they can handle. We arrived and there was a line outside the door. While in line we were informed that the food, even takeout, was taking around 40 minutes to be ready. After driving 40 minutes to get there we were not going to leave so we decided to wait. While in line we overheard that they take call in orders as well as delivery orders solidifying my point that they may be taking on too much. The locale is small and there was nowhere to sit. We had to eat in the parking lot so our food wouldn’t get cold. After waiting for almost an hour one would expect the food to be something you can’t get anywhere else. However, that is not the case. Food is very average. They are hyped up to be the best tacos in Houston but I have tasted the same version of the same taco in different restaurants without the difficulties of...
Read morethis place is simply just okay. i ordered 2 tacos de asada y 2 de adobada en maiz con todo. una horchata y una limonada. the carne asada was dry and needed salt, i think for a mexican taco spot salt is the last thing a taco should need. the tortillas and the guac were the best thing i had here personally. the horchata tasted like it used to be good but probably got heavily watered down by the time i got it. ( i went around 2pm on saturday) the adobada was pretty good, but nothing too stand out. that alone i would give a 4/5. the salsas were okay, the chile de arbol salsa was jusy spicy with not much flavor and the jalapeño salsa was very light. BUT my biggest complaint is the lack or originality all around. this place is an exact copy of a famous (and my favorite) taco spot in new york called los tacos numero 1 in chelsea market. the font they use, the menu, the entire basis of it when i went and was in the space made me feel like i was in a much cheaper version of what i've experienced in new york before. it could be 100% a coincidence but i've had many of my new york friends agree that it was almost too similar to assume good intentions. overall this place was not bad and i'd recommend it for the average person with average people taste. if you want the real deal, i'd recommend going to new yorks chelsea market lol. the photo i've included is of a taco i had at tacos frontera and a picture of the new...
