This is one of the most wonderful restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining in at. The atmosphere was so warm and peaceful, and the service was fantastic. The owner herself greeted and welcomed my family into her restaurant, and gave us a wonderful dining experience. We started off with the Sparkling Butterfly Pea Iced Tea, which was not only visually aesthetic, but delicious and refreshing as well. My daughter got a juice box right away, which she was very happy about. We started with the Beef Salad, Spicy Chicken Wings, and Homemade Fish Cakes – which were ALL TO DIE FOR. The steak in the Beef Salad was cooked perfectly, and had such wonderful flavor. The Spicy Chicken Wings were covered in the most delicious, flavorful sauce, topped with crispy basil leaves. They came out hot and crispy, and had the most satisfying crunch that you could ever imagine… this dish was absolutely divine. The Homemade Fish Cakes were such a delight – they perfectly embodied that authentic Thai flavor that is so hard to find in other places. We shared the Tom Yum Noodle Soup as our meal. The soup was so marvelously crafted and flavorful – it came with slicked pork, ground pork, meatballs, onions, beansprouts, peanuts, garlic, and lime juice. It had that pure, authentic Thai flavor I am always craving, and made such an enjoyable meal. The owner brought us out sides of dried chili pepper, grounded Thai chili peppers, and fresh pickled jalapenos for us to add in our soup. I used them all to make my own soup super spicy, and it was spicy heaven! Our daughter had chicken nuggets, fries, steamed broccoli, and a side of sticky rice. She’s a picky eater, but she loved it all, just as we did. For dessert, the owner brought us a sampler plate containing all the desserts on their menu. A large scoop of Coconut Ice Cream with coco powder sat on a bed of sweet sticky rice, next to slices of Roti Condense Milk, Fried Banana, and freshly sliced mangos. This was devoured by the 3 of us in under 5 minutes… we couldn’t stop eating! My daughter even ordered another thing of Roti Condense Milk because she wanted more (and she is the pickiest eater in the world)! The Roti and the Fried Banana was so crispy and delicious, the coconut ice cream had the perfectly flavor – not to sweet with bits of coconut shreds that made the taste even more delightful. We left the restaurant with Thai Iced Coffees for our ride back to Austin. At the end of our meal, I wish I had 3 stomachs so that I could eat everything on the menu. I would highly recommend anyone who can, to visit Thai Way 6 for an authentic, delicious,...
Read moreI finally got to try Thai Way 6 while visiting family for the holidays. They've raved about this new restaurant. Now I know why. The food was scrumptious from beginning to end. The Thai iced coffee was refreshing and not too sweet. I liked it so much I ordered a second :) For food I started out with the Tom Kha soup. It was a nice light starter rich in flavor. Next I enjoyed chicken satay. The chicken was grilled very well and once I added the accompanying dipping sauce it was a perfect match for my mouth. I love papaya salad and when the wait staff recommended I add the salted crab it was a new Thai food experience I was excited to have and was happy I tried it out. The saltiness of the crab was a great pairing with the tartness of the papaya. Lastly, I finished off with the chef's special Pad Ped Catfish -- pieces of battered catfish fried in a yummy marinade sitting atop a bed of green beans. Delicious! I don't see this dish often in Thai restaurants so I was eager to order it and wasn't disappointed. The portions are hefty; I was so stuffed I could barely move.
The staff are friendly and attentive. They always kept the carafe of water replenished. I like the warm and tasteful addition of the wood accents on the wall; this adds a welcoming modern feel to the interior. I think I'm going to have to visit family more often just so I can come back and try their...
Read moreI saw the great ratings and my parents live not too far from there, so we went to dinner. When I checked in on Yelp, I noticed they have a 10 percent discount if you spend at least $30, which we did. The waitress took my phone and showed the offer to someone, I suppose the manager. She came back and gave an excuse like it's a third party and for online orders. I have no clue what the waitress was trying to explain. There is no fine print on the check-in offer. As for food.. We were served a water carafe with cute aluminum cups. My parents weren't that hungry and ordered soft spring rolls. The order comes with three rolls. They're similar to the Vietnamese ones, albeit softer and less crunchy. I ordered yellow curry with tofu. Though it's classified on the menu without a red pepper, and I told the waitress I don't want it spicy, the dish was still spicy. It comes with potatoes and steamed rice. The curry looks homemade, and they were able to hold the onions. The place had a good amount of business for a Sunday evening. They need to add a red pepper to the yellow curry description and take off the 10 percent offer from their Yelp listing if they don't want...
