The Pub 529 — Restaurant in Jersey Village

I booked a graduation party for my high school son with the manager Chris, approximately one month in advance. We often conversed and texted as the date approached. I met with Chris twice at the bar and even brought a notepad and gave him a copy of our meeting. We reserved the patio area for 75 people . June 1st , 7 p.m. till 12 midnight. The day of my son's graduation party I spoke with Chris and asked at what time could we decorate. He then informed me that there was another graduation party set for the same date at 4 p.m. and they would finish up around 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. . When my wife and I arrived in person to speak with him, he had given the other party our entire section and was moving us to another part of the patio. He also kept stating that he was a businessman. He then told us that if we wanted the area that we had already reserved, that we would have to come around 8 and decorate. I stressed my concern with him pertaining to booking both parties on the same day without informing us. We had hired a DJ and an Entertainer. I also stressed our concern about the schools that he booked on the same day were rivals. He then made derogatory comments that seemed racist. Around 6:40 he told us that only 40 people showed up for the party that he double-booked overlapping our time. Around 7 he texted and told us that he couldn't assure us that the other party would be leaving and that it's not looking good for us at this point. He also stated that at 10:00 they are a 21 and up bar, knowing that we reserved the area from 7 p.m. until midnight. Around 7:30 he texted and told us that he's going to cut his losses and canceled our reservation.. I have text messages and written notes from our meeting to verify everything that I am stating. BTW, the other party was booked a couple of days before the actual party.. I would never ever step foot in this establishment again. We went to several sports bars in the area that night to try and Reserve a area to host our son's graduation party. At every sports bar in the area , when we explained to them what happened, they all had something negative to say about Chris...

I come to this place and have drinks at least twice a week. I came into the pub yesterday and I brought a friend with me. I ordered my usual whiskey and Diet Coke. My buddy ordered a Jameson on the rocks . The bartender (Shelby M) accidentally splashed Diet Coke into my friends drink. We both laughed it off and he made a joke that he is allergic to Coke and wanted another drink (only kidding around) Shelby M gets really aggressive and tell us " if we don't like it we can just get out" we looked at each other in disbelief when we saw that she was serious . I told Her he was only joking . She responded with " that's a bad joke!" I asked her how can you tend a bar and not be use to a bad joke every now and again???! We were the only black guys at the bar so my buddy thought that maybe it was a race thing. I explained to Him that I come there all the time and I've even seen black bartenders in the past. I think maybe she's just having a bad day . Instead of storming out , I got my friend to calm down and we finished our drinks. I few moments later I saw Shelby M take fire balls shots with her friends at the end of the bar. I thought to myself ....now it makes sense. She's intoxicated. While taking her shots I over heard her say " I'm a terrible employee" and I have to a agree with her. There is a new hire name Cole . He has really good customer service . I came by a few days ago and he did a really good job. However, I don't think I'll be returning to Pub 529 again. There's other bars in the area . I feel bad for the owner because this place has so much potential . Just gotta get good people...

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD! I went in at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, 4/3/2019 , there was five total people at the bar , no music, silent and decided to sit outside to wait for a friend.

I waited outside, on the patio for approximately 20 minutes. The bartender came outside, saw I was sitting on the patio however did not approach me to offer drinks/service or anything at all.

Once my friend arrived , I went inside to find a high top table . We sat down at the bar top table , all while the bartender saw us sit down , while another employee also saw us sit down and again did not approach our table to offer a drink and/or service at all.

We approached the bar, only to be ignored by the bartender - until she felt she had to acknowledge us standing at her bar due to a gentleman at the bar pointing in our direction. We asked about the specials, ultimately ordered two beers, paid and left.

The bartender was rude, not friendly or customer oriented and would not go back for that reason.

Given that the bar was beyond slow and empty , the bartender could have taken initiative to be more friendly to those customers in the bar. As an establishment with such low clientele at that given time , there should have been no reason for patrons willing to pay for such goods and services to be blatantly ignored. PERIOD!

Management should take a word of advice and ensure they have employees/bartenders/servers willing to represent their establishment in a way that promotes business not...
