This was a surprising find just 15 min from our home. It’s not easy to spot, inside a strip mall that can only be accessed from the southbound lanes of medlock bridge road.
When we walked in, we realized this was going to be an authentic experience because a lot of the signage was written in Mandarin, and the restaurant was packed with what appeared to be Chinese and Taiwanese guests.
Despite it being a Friday and not having a reservation, the hostess found a seat for us within 15 min. And once we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen and from the surrounding tables.
This was our first time trying Hunan food, but we are now converts. The taste is midway between Sichuan and Cantonese. With a lot of more complex flavors. We ordered the crispy fish dry pot and the tofu stuffed with chicken malatang which is a Sichuan flavored soupy hot pot.
Our food was excellent and despite being extremely busy and stretched, the staff took time to chat with us and make us feel comfortable. We went back the next day for more and now this is one of our...
Read moreIf there was an option to give six stars, I would give six stars. We ordered the walnut shrimp, Sichuan Malatang with lamb + fish, and Taiwanese beef soup. As for the walnut shrimp, it was plump, it had just the perfect amount of heavenly sweet and creamy sauce, yummy walnuts to add some nuttiness, and broccoli steamed to perfection. After some sweetness entered into your body, you need some spiciness to balance it out. Here comes the malatang♡ OMG. We ordered the medium spice level. Once the broth touches your tongue, you're in Mala heaven~ The spices weren't so overpowering that it numbed your tongue. You could definitely taste all the complex flavors of the malatang. Try the cabbage in the malatang with the walnut shrimp. It's the perfect combo. Taiwanese beef soup was the warm hug in the end. The perfectly chunky but tender beef, the slight crunch of the bokchoy, the tender but chewy noodles, and the flavorful beef broth was everything you could wish for in a soup. Can't wait to come back here and try other dishes. Hope you all try the food here too. You won't be...
Read moreLiterally the reviews did not lie. Everyone was so nice and attentive, the food was delicious, we ordered the Pan Fried dumplings, Veggie Spring rolls, Hunan Beef, Shrimp Fried Rice and Walnut Shrimp. All of the shrimp were HUGE, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The beef was unbelievably tender, like giant slices of meat thinly sliced, everything was so tasty and flavorful not salty at all but seasoned to the nth degree. It was nice and clean and as soon as you walked in the aromas from the food made your mouth water, you knew you were about to eat good food 🤗I am so happy we found this place. It is our new favorite and go to for authentic cuisine. Oh and the prices were really good considering how good the food is. We spent maybe $72 for a family of three, we were all stuffed, AND we had food to take home. We’re not the kinda family who picks over food either, we are foodies lol so to say we were full AND had a lil left over says a lot..💝 If you’re considering going..just go, you...
