After a reflective morning at the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial, I stepped across the street with my family expecting little more than a quick cup of coffee. What I found instead was a menu with surprising depth and flavors that exceeded expectations.
I chose from the aptly named Under the Bridge section of the menu: the Whitefish & Nova Platter. Smoked salmon and whitefish salad were paired with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, onions, capers, and a spread of cream cheese. The balance was classic, but done well--the fish fresh, the textures clean, the capers adding the briny punctuation they should. Across the table, my husband ordered the Flat Iron Scrambler, a robust plate of pastrami, salami, Swiss cheese, and eggs. It was hearty and unapologetically indulgent, a satisfying breakfast that leaned into bold flavors without tipping into excess. What also caught my eye was the vegan option--a thoughtful dish with cream cheese, lava beans, scallions, garlic, and onions. Though I didn't try it this time, the inclusion alone speaks to a menu designed with a range of diners in mind.
Coffee often sets the tone for breakfast, and here it did not disappoint. The French Roast I ordered was strong but smooth, while my husband's Original Brew had the balance and freshness that too many brunch spots fail to deliver. It was, quite simply, excellent coffee. The Atmosphere If there's one element that detracted from the meal, it was the interior environment. Crowded, noisy, and chaotic, the space felt more like a transit station than a café. Customers flowed constantly--waiting in line, grabbing to-go orders, hovering for seats. The food deserved a calmer stage than the one it was given. Outdoor seating is available, and in retrospect, that is where the experience would have truly shined.
This café manages to balance authenticity and variety with an efficiency that keeps the line moving, even on a busy Sunday. The food is fresh, the flavors deliberate, and the coffee among the better offerings in a brunch setting. While the indoor seating leaves much to be desired, the quality of the plates more than compensates. Rating: (4/5) A destination for anyone seeking hearty, well-crafted breakfast fare--just do yourself a favor and...
Read moreGood bagels, horrid customer service
We visited this store today a few minutes before their closing time, 2:00 PM. I made an honest mistake and thought the closing time was 3:00 PM, which is why we went. Upon arrival, once we realized the closing time was 2:00 PM, I asked if they were still taking orders, to which they replied yes.
The person working at the counter (a woman in her 50s appearance wise) proceeded to treat us very rudely and seemed upset that we had come late. We ordered 13 bagels and a few spreads, and asked if they could slice the bagels for us. At this point the employee started to argue with my wife for asking the bagels to be sliced. Instead of choosing from the bagels on display, which looked fresh and delicious, this employee proceeded to fill our order in the back, and tossed our order down in front of us.
If we have come too close to closing time, I would rather be told 'we are closed, please come back tomorrow', then to be let in and treated in such a rude manner. A person can mistake the closing time of an establishment; it was an honest mistake.
I pointed out as much to the disgruntled employee, who proceeded to raise her voice at me as well, make some random hand gestures at us and walked into the back. Upon arriving at home, we found that the bagels she had placed in the box were old and stale.
They make good bagels, but have temperamental people working there. An absolutely horrible experience; we will never return to this...
Read moreI have been going to Brooklyn bagels for many years since they first opened. I don't have anything bad to say about the bagels and the food is always on point and most always delicious. I am VERY disappointed with my experience with them last weekend. We had contacted Alan and his team a few times to confirm the order was in fact correct. This was our first and will most certainly be our last experience catering from them. My fiancé and I were getting married last weekend and we wanted our favorite bagels for the morning of our wedding to enjoy with our closest family and friends! My bridesmaid had to pick up the order since i was too busy as a bride and ensuring everything went smoothly at the venue. When the order was received, more than HALF the order was missing for the bridal party. I spent a lot of money on this order. I then called brooklyn bagels and spoke to Alan. I mentioned our order was was missing, a LOT. I am very disappointed with how this was handled and how unprofessional our experience was. He did apologize but didn't truly rectify the situation. I had to send my brother back to pick up the rest of the catering order. They should have delivered everything at that point. A few cookies is not going to make up for the lack of care that...
