Osaka Japan — Restaurant in Joliet

I was glad to find that this restaurant had moved not closed and went over today with my daughter. The service was fine and the building clean. But I have to say I was greatly disappointed at the temperature of the food. Despite seeing food coming out fresh, and looking moist and fresh, it was cold. I tried several type of the chicken and each was just not up to a delicious temperature. The chicken on stick was still quite fatty and strung together, telling me that they are not using a hot enough temperature to cook to sear away most of the fat and create caramelization of the sauce. The egg drop soup was the most watery and tasteless egg drop soup I'd ever had, but it was pretty hot at least. Cold foods were all cold enough... the crabmeat dish with onion & peppers used to be my favorite thing, but the vegetables were still crunchy and cut too large, it used to all be more delicate. 2023 update: soba noodles now are skinny things and actually appear to be spaghetti noodles. So crushed....the noods were my favorite 😔

July 2021 update: any of the other reviews that mention a buffet are NOT for this establishment. The buffet is a separate restaurant located in an outlot at the mall, and is terrible, different owners. Osaka Japan is in the mall food court and is fantastic!

May 2018 update - they're back!!! Food is slightly different but just as good. Noodles seem more authentic now, thicker and tastier.

The owner is very stingy and overweighs the carry out meals to get more money. I weighed my food at home and it weighed 6 ounces less than what I was charged for. 26.50 for one carry out dish and a soup is ridiculous. Furthermore she adds on a 0.50 credit card fee and doesn't tell the customer. I would of just payed cash. Overall charged 6 dollars more than what I should of been charged. Not worth mentioning to the owner since the same things happen each time, better to just mention in a public review. Doesn't want to give a double bag for the food. Not worth going there if I'm going to be cheated on the weight and credit...
