The hotel overall is okay.
Our pillows were quite lumpy and flat. The walls were covered in dust bunnies, which combined with the carpets that were never vacuumed during our three day weekend stay, made my allergies go crazy!
The bathroom shower walls were cloudy with soap scum/hard water stains, except at the very top where soap and water hardly ever touch.
Unfortunately, the pool was cloudy when we went down Friday evening, and the hot tub was covered in some kind of white flakey debris. It reminded me of someone exfoliating their feet during a pedicure. We were pretty grossed out by it.
When we went to report the hot tub to the staff, we literally searched for over 2 hours, but couldn’t find a single employee at the front desk, nor anywhere else on the property. People were waiting in the front lobby to check in. My husband and I were concerned so he called their 1-800 number to report that security wise, this was probably not a good thing as anyone could walk into the hotel totally unnoticed. The woman who answered the 1-800 #, placed us on hold and tried calling the hotel herself to no avail, but was flippant stating, “Well, I don’t know what you want me to do about it!” We gave up at that point. We figured they’d charge us if we tried to relocate to a different hotel since we’d already checked in and really couldn’t give any notice, or we would have left.
The breakfast is also, “okay.” The milk was turning sour even though it was refrigerated and dated to expire the day after I was trying to drink it.
The eggs were bland and tasteless and the sausages were greasy. The oatmeal was quite thick and lumpy.
The fruit was tasty and in season. That’s about the nicest thing in could find to eat.
Just an FYI, the clientele attracted to this place think it’s perfectly okay to show up to breakfast barefoot, or just in socks (not slippers), to change shirts in the lobby, and allow their children to run and play screaming around the pool and breakfast area.
The sheets and towels were clean in our room, the AC worked, and overall, in our room it was quiet enough that we were able to sleep, but as an overall experience, this stay only added to the stress of us moving from one city to another. It was not a pleasant experience, nor one that I could...
Read moreWe've been staying in this area for years when visiting our children and grandchildren. We mostly have stayed at a few of the other Marriott properties in the area, but decided to give this one a try since it had been recently renovated (and since our last stay at this particular property location), and had availability of a King Suite. We were not disappointed!
Our children and grandchildren just had a tornado hit their hometown of Coal City, IL, and we were there to help our youngest granddaughter celebrate her 3rd birthday. Having this location and the King suite gave them a place to go to get away from the destruction and devastation in Coal City, and it gave us enough space for all of us to be comfortable having a mini-birthday party.
From the time we checked in until the time we left, we experienced nothing but the best and friendliest service from everyone we encountered. The property and the room were very clean and comfortable, and up to date with all the amenities.
Shortly after we checked in and got all our things up to our room I needed to go back out. On my way past the front desk I told the young lady who checked us in that this was our new "go to" location for when we come to town, and she gave me a big high-five hand slap, and told her co-worker they just stole one from the "South" property! It was so cute to see...
Read moreLocated in Joliet North/Plainfield, a suburb west of downtown Chicago. There are shopping strip malls and a Portillo's (famous Chicago style hotdog chain) conveniently close by. The hotel is behind a Best Western and a Honda dealership. Affordable gas station. Convenient stop for a road trip but no other reason to stay here. The room was spacious. Beds were good. Bathroom had good water pressure but hard water was less than desirable. House cleaning could do a better job. There were small curly hairs stuck on the shower and bathroom walls everywhere. I realize house keeping has many areas to clean but perhaps wiping/vacuuming the walls is not possible? Included breakfast was the usual. The night time front desk was vacant when I arrived late night. The young woman available must have been multi-tasking with taking care of house keeping and front desk, etc. She was friendly, competent, accommodating and efficient. Good employee. The next morning at check out, the front desk guy, Nicholas, was very welcoming, friendly, competent and genuine. Hotel staff are good, hard-working people. House cleaning could've been better. Honestly, there's no reason I'd stay here again, but overall it was a decent value, not the Ritz Carlton or a Motel 6 but adequate for my purpose for...
