Where to begin? I ordered a burger, my wife ordered a chicken sandwich, and we both ordered shakes. The shakes were brought to us after a few minutes, and then we had to wait another 15 minutes for our food. So that's already two things wrong right there. First, people want all their food together. Every other place understand this, but not Steak 'n Shake. And we weren't the only ones. Everyone else who ordered food and a milkshake to-go was standing around sucking on their milkshakes while waiting for the rest of their order. Second thing wrong at this point was obviously the long wait for our food. And we were getting our food to go, so we just had to stand around with our thumbs up our butts. But there was no good place to wait. When you walk in the doors of the restaurant, three steps takes you to the counter. So in the same small area, people are ordering take-out, customers are entering and leaving, people are waiting for their take-out orders, and the staff are going and coming to deliver food to people in their cars -- because the service is so slow, the people in the drive-thru lane don't actually get their food at the window. So no matter where we stood, we were in someone's way. Then there's the food. Apparently our food was made right away, then forgotten about for 15 minutes, because it was cold. And my burger... I had ordered the Guacamole Steakburger. The counter person asked if I wanted a double, and I thought "nah, I'm getting a milkshake, so a single will be plenty." Boy, was I wrong. What are those, two-ounce patties? I couldn't even see the paper-thin patty between the buns. This explains why Steak 'n Shake uses single, double, and triple to describe its burger sizes, rather than weight. First, they don't have to publicize how small they are. Second, it allows them to cut back on the patty size any time they need to increase profits in an attempt to save their failing business. Finally, there were the shakes. Mine was Mint Oreo, and it was actually good. My wife, however, ordered the Peanut Butter Cup, which apparently is a vanilla milkshake with about an ounce of crumbled peanut butter cup sprinkled on top. She might as well have ordered a vanilla milkshake. And why does Steak 'n Shake only offer one size of shake? "Shake" is in their name. Doesn't that mean shakes should be one of their specialties? So why just one size? Anyway, I think we're done with Steak 'n Shake. Bad food, bad service. Why anyone goes there...
Read moreI ate at this location on 6/18/2017 late at night with 7 people in our party. Upon being seated, we were told they had no Coca-Cola, no sprite, and not chocolate chip cookie dough milkshakes. They took our order. I asked for a single cheeseburger with nothing but cheese and cheese fries.
The waiter brought everybody's order out correctly except mine. I brought it to his attention and he told me that they could quickly correct it and bring the right order out momentarily. 20 minutes went by. They people with me were finishing their meals up. Our waiter seemed to go out of his way to avoid our table. We finally called him over and he acted shocked that nobody had brought my corrected food out. He went back up near the kitchen and I could see a discussion going on. The other people in my party had finished eating at this point. I decided it wasn't with my time to wait any longer.
I walked up to my waiter as he was talking to the people in the kitchen and told him to just remove my food items from our bill. He reached through the window to the kitchen and said, "Here is your order.". Again, the order was wrong. Fries...no cheese fries. Instead of a single plain cheeseburger, it was a double. I told him that there were two items on the plate and neither was what I ordered. Again I asked them to remove my item from the bill.
They removed the item from my bill. We were there for nearly an hour and a half. In that amount of time, the staff was unable to bring me a single, plain cheeseburger and order of cheese fries. I left hungrier than when I came in and went through a Wendy's drive-thru. You would be wise to avoided this location and risk the experience I've had. Just...
Read moreNot sure even where to start. Well I stopped because I mainly had to use the washroom I want driver and I'm at work the washroom floor was so sticky my feet kept sticking to it pretty much the whole for throughout the restaurant was so dirty and sticky my shoes kept sticking to it didn't really look around too much in the bathroom can't say besides that. Once I left the bathroom I decided to order a chicken melt sandwich it comes on sourdough bread with cheese I believe is Swiss or provolone tomato sauce and Island sauce the chicken patty and bacon slices I received the sandwich without cheese and the only reason I got the rest of the ingredients is because they asked me what goes on it. Meanwhile it took 25 minutes just for one sandwich and there was nobody in front of me in line I went inside and it was not busy. I ordered a Red Bull they could not find the key to open the fridge where it was located. It took 15 minutes for them to decide that they could not find it. Mean while I'm still waiting on my sandwich 25 minutes for one sandwich that's it. I did not get one apology from the manager. She barely gave me eye contact and not one time said thank you or sorry for your wait. Im sorry we cant sell you Red Bull because we lost the key. From what i heard them saying that key has been lost for at least a week. My sandwich was made wrong and the service was terrible. Cleanliness of the restraunt was embarrassing. I would never recommend...
