Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Kalispell

Gosh, wish I could say we had a good dinner experience. Hostess had a 5 minute discussion with the customer who came in behind us about seating options and wait time and then decided to attend back to us a show us to our table. The waitress was absolutely disoriented, awkward and confused the entire time. Drinks and appetizers came out 30 min after ordered. When we finished our appetizers and she asked us if we were ready for the bill, a red flag went up and we explained to her we hadn't received our dinner order. After 1 hour of waiting for our food and several times asking other waitress and manager where our food was, the food finally showed up after everyone around us had been seated and finished their meals. Ribs were hard and dry like jerky. Fettuccine Alfredo tasted like watery queso on top of noodles. My kid said her Mac and cheese and grilled chicken was up to standard. Unfortunately, we had to have a discussion with the manager, who was very kind and understood that our situation was sub par to their standards. I do understand the current staffing issues.. My suggestion to this restaurant is if you are experiencing short staff, you need to not fill up the restaurant and instead have customers wait a bit so that the experience is up to your standard and the customer's. Wish I could leave 5 stars and a good review, but honestly we had a pretty not so pleasant experience tonight. We were seated and quickly greeted by our waitress and ordered an appetizer right off the bat since we already knew we wanted spinach and artichoke dip. She then brought our drinks and took our order. We both ordered the parmesan steak and shrimp and asked for medium - rare steak. A while later we got our meals and never recieved the appetizer. Steaks were both well done. No pink. Definitely not medium rare. Everything was super salty, even the broccoli. She came back literally 30 seconds after dropping off our plates and asked how everything was tasting.....we hadn't even cut into the steak yet. I never did complain about the steak because it seems like you can't get a steak cooked right anywhere in the valley unless your paying $40+ a plate. We asked for our appetizer togo and she then proceeded to tell us how "she'd been doing this all day and was really tired" anyway, yes I appreciate the people who do show up for work but let's try to have some better customer service. I'm a waitress and It's just really unprofessional to complain about how you've been there all day and your tired. We went to Applebees on 9/21/23 for the all you can eat boneless chicken wings. Even though we just saw a commercial the night before and it is the first thing that shows up on their website we were told that the promotion was no longer available. Naturally we asked to speak with the manager. Our waitress came back out and said that she was sorry but the promotion was over and there was nothing she could do. She even brought a piece of paper from the back with dates on it and told us even if she wanted to do anything there was no way to ring it into the computer because there would be no buttons to use. Now I have never actually worked in restaurant food service but I have worked in fast food service so I know that there is wiggle room for things and if a customer asks for a manager a manager should show up but the thing that takes this over the top is after she said all the and walked away to give us time to decided I saw the HAPPY HOUR menu on the table. The special on Wednesdays all you can eat boneless chicken wings. So I guess there is a button after all. On top of all of this the food was cold, the service was abysmal and the Manager went around almost the whole restaurant help to serve food but never once considered coming over to our table. I will never go here again and if I could rate it negative stars I would. Save your money or go somewhere else...
