The location is busy and there is adequate parking. Upon being seated there is a long wait for orders to be taken - understandably because they are popular and busy. One of our party members requested a refill from a staff member during the wait. One of the waitresses came over and began berating party members, stating "What, you couldn't wait? You are telling us you are just going to get up and leave? There are like 3 or 4 people ahead of you. But fine, I'll take your order now!" We told the waitress we were not sure what she was talking about. We had only requested a refill and no other requests or statements regarding leaving had been made. The waitress blew off our response and told us to order anyway. A very poor start to the experience but we decided to go ahead and order anyway. The chicken enchiladas are excellent. The chile relleno and beef enchiladas were both lacking in flavor. Rice and beans seemed to be standard across most Tex-Mex style restaurants, nothing too exciting.
Overall experience was quite poor given the waitress' statements and attitude. It seems we were mistaken for another party but just the same I will not return as long as they believe that is the most appropriate way to...

Escobar's has all the standard Mexican fare: tacos, burritos, tostadas, fajitas, etc. They do a great job of it and locals make it a popular place to eat. Dishes at Escobar's aren't fancy. What you get is authentic Mexican food made deliciously well and good refried beans in your burrito and lots of flavor in your carne asada.
The carne asada salad is one of the best dishes on the menu and one of the less traditional choices. But, it is fresh and has lots of vegetables to go with the made-when- you-order beef strips.
The taco salad is also a great choice. It is a flour shell stuffed with meat, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and tomatoes. I usually go with the ground beef.
The salsa will go quickly because it is also full-flavored. Pickled jalapenos give it a small kick and a great salty flavor. The chips arrive warm and super crispy and are just the right thickness for scooping up the salsa.
Indoor seating is limited so if you have a large party you will have to wait or sit outside. The patio is nice but faces the highway into town and can get noisy if trucks are passing through.

Read moreWe rolled into Kanab about 11:30 am on a Friday, coming off a few days at Bryce Canyon NP. It was too early to check into our hotel (at Days Inn & Suites - will NEVER stay there again) so went searching for a lunch & cold beer stop. We found Escobar's on the east end of town and decided to take a chance even without checking their reviews. Wow. We received a very warm welcome by the hostess, followed by the same from our server. We chose to share the Friday lunch special (Martins Special Burrito w/ ground beef) and it was delivered piping hot to our table in no time at all. It was huge, and absolutely delicious... the perfect accompaniment to a couple ice cold cervezas. Our timing was perfect as by noon, every table in the entire restaurant, both inside and outdoor patio, was filled with obviously a lot of local regulars. We watched every patron get the very same warm welcome we enjoyed. Over our two weeks of touring around Utah with eating out daily, this particular restaurant stop was by far the best experience we've had (and there were many good ones!). Muchas Gracias,...
