The one gold star is for the nice (Cuban?) guy who came and checked on us. He was super nice and personable and sweet. Our waitress was ok, but wasn’t really paying attention to anything going on. She was nice enough I guess, but could definitely use some customer service training.
The biggest downfall was the food. My family is local to Kanab and we visit often. All of us were SO excited to have a new place to try. We were, unfortunately, somewhat disappointed. Not only was the food overpriced, but the portions were small. ($10 for a small sandwich that doesn’t even come with fries or a drink?!) On top of that the food we got was dry and crumbling everywhere (this was the Cuban Steak Sandwich). We asked for some sort of sauce to help moisten things up, and they brought out a tiny little plastic cup with what looked like fat and seasoning they pulled off the frying pan where they cooked the meat. The double cheese burger had nothing but the meat, bread, and cheese. No ketchup or anything. No one even offered us sauces for that or the fries we ordered. (The fries were good, actually.)
A few other things to add, is that they didn’t have a good chunk of their menu items, which was annoying and they didn’t have ice for beverages.
The deserts are RIDICULOUSLY tiny and didn’t even taste good. It was like $3 + tax for a two inch “empanada”. And it didn’t really taste good.
If you’re in for a fun-visual aesthetic, this is the place to go. Beautiful colors, decor, and murals. But would not recommend for the food. You’re definitely better off going to Escobars...
Read morea simple thursday morning breakfast that wasnt. No waitress, just a server. Order at the counter and wait for food in your seat. I ordered the 3 egg omlete - it gets a C- bc the omelet was over cooked and the fillings weren't cooked, coffee (not cuban) was dishwater but the toast...ah the toast, it was superb. Signs in the shop asked to buss your own dishes and offer to "pay it forward" by leaving money for others who need money for food. Not against charity, but buss my own dishes? C'mon. Small shop trying to keep things alive. As I travel around the country I see similar places thriving by 1)Pay better wages, 2)Charge higher prices, 3)Make food worth paying more for. This seems to be the new normal. This place should consider it. Who knows, maybe omeletes and coffee aren't their strong suit...
Following up on the owner reply. I am the customer, you KNOW when something isn't right leaving your kitchen. The right answer here is not to chastise me. You could have a) Made sure the food was right, or maybe came out to ask how everything was. b) ignored my review. c) offered a simple apology and ask me to give you another try next time i'm passing thru to show me how good you really are. I didn't complain because there was no one to complain to. The poor girl running the front of the house was out back, outside, taking orders and doing her best to keep up. When I was leaving, the ordering parties were 5 deep, she did not need my feedback. We can agree to disagree about my observations. People have choices and I think you'll find they would respond...
Read moreIf we could give 10 stars, we absolutely would! From top to bottom, we truly enjoyed our meal here! When we walked in the door, we were immediately greeted by a young man - he had a genuine smile on his face and made each and every person feel welcome as they walked in. You’re given a menu and then order at the counter. Even though it appeared really busy between dining room guests, phone calls, and pick up orders, our food came out in what seemed like no time, and it was FANTASTIC! We both ordered a Cubano sandwich, and wow - just wow! Although one sandwich was probably big enough to feed us both, we each finished our sandwich. The bread was crisp and yet fresh at the same time. The sandwich was high with perfectly cooked meat and was just layer upon layer of perfectly executed flavor. This sandwich hit it out of the park. To add to the incredible food, the restaurant itself is spotless! Adding to the overall experience (and just as impressive) was the fact the staff also acknowledged each and every guest as they left the restaurant.
Job well done! We can’t wait here to eat here one more time...
