If I could give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars for the food and drink at Andrés, I would!
On a trip to Kansas City I was looking for a Gelato place. None to speak of. Though through the telephone trekking I was told of Andrés Swiss Chocolates, not once, but 3 times. Appetite in hand, breakfast I walked in and was amazed at the breath of pastries and chocolate on display.
I had breakfast. Came back for lunch and breakfast the next day. Yes, it was that good.
I sampled chocolates–the Matterhorn is decadent and delicious. It alone is worth the trip.
I sampled their pastries. My favorite was the Apple puff.
I sampled their breakfast food, including the Ham and Cheese Croissant and their Brisket & Cheese Strata–both excellent.
Lunch, day one, was a generous portion of Pork Loin seasoned with Paprika and Pepper in a pork glaze, with 2 sides and fresh baked-on-the-premises roll.
Lunch day two consisted of a Seasoned Beef Popover and 2 sides and roll.
Coffee and specialty coffees are above-and-beyond. As our their alcoholic beverages. You can order an Americano, a refreshing Compari and OJ drink on a hot afternoon to cool off. Standard favorites are available also.
Their wait staff is hired by the owners and the owners pride themselves on hiring for personality; it shows.
After eating there two days in a row, I was able to meet with two of the 3 generations of proprietors. Delightful people who have time to chat with their customers.
Oh, and if chocolate or pastries aren't your thing. They make ice cream on premises. I sampled Vanilla and Cookies and Cream. Yummy and refreshingly delicious.
So, next time I am in Kansas City I'll be back at Andrés Confiserie Suisse for breakfast or lunch or happy hour. You'll be remiss...

We came for lunch and to buy gifts in Feb. We orderd and food came out in a short wile. Food was lukewarm cold. I brought it to waitresses attention and she left for quite a wile. She returned with someone els im assuming manager and I was told rudely they dont know how mine was cold but others was fine. I said I dont know but could they simply heat my dish. I also said we never got our salads that we orderd as well. I was told if I was looking to get the meal for free they would be glad to take care of it. I said no Ill be glad to pay for a hot dish like I orderd and with the salad like im paying for.
I dont know how we go from were all in a good mood and can we heat the dish. I understand mistakes happen NO BIG DEAL but disscreatly my food is cold.
I guess I should have just ate the cold food. I mean when did it come to this type of shame. If Im going to lunch and paying for a hot lunch im not expecting to be blown away with a culonary delight but I do expect food to be warm and not cold.
If your happy to make your livin of customers that pay for your livlyhood you should treat them with respect.
This was a DONT YOU KNOW WERE YOU ARE AND WHO I AM kind of moment.
We all make mistakes its how we choose to fix them that makes the bussiness and this was a rude and poor excuse.
Im writeing this now as I was busy before and just got done opening and eating mediocre at best choclates I bought on that visit.
VERY OVER RATED AT BEST. A+ atmosphere as its very...
Read moreI'm going to have to give very few starts at this time just to share my experience. First of all the food was excellent as always. I've eaten at Andres for 40 years both locations. Yesterday I would have called close to fiasco. We took a new person and they love the food but the service was absolutely pathetic. I know this is a hard time coming out of covid and I'm guessing that was it our actual weight person was wonderful but there seem to be a lot of people milling around that could have gotten water coffee rolls just walking around. I don't like the way we got seated where you had to sit on a bench for a few minutes when the tables were open. I think roles should be set and maybe even glasses of water then you could pass the time at least talking and munching instead of waiting for someone to show up at your table. I seriously think it took us 15 minutes to get water. There's no excuse for that. There were extra people they might not have been waitstaff but it seemed like maybe someone was a busboy and maybe someone was some kind of greeter person that just kept walking around in the back they were not from the dessert counter. love the food always have always will it's my number one request of places to go but I don't live close I'm in the Blue Springs Independence area so I don't get there as often as I like. I hope they...
