I am a loyal marriott member (gold and sometimes elite) and also a timeshare owner. I have stayed in 100s of marriott hotels over many decades. I love the refreshing Aloft design and have stayed in 5+ Aloft hotels including Omaha, Los Angeles and Northern KC. Sadly this hotel did not live up to our expectations. 1. SO COLD - do not stay her in winter. Not only does the room cool down the second the heater stops heating (aka no insulation), but the heater never stops and blows AC after the heat. It is on automatic and no setting changes this. Also they use those motel heaters. built into the walls from the 80s - terrible. There was also a cold draft coming from under it and from the outside wall - it appears that there is little insulation used in this hotel. 2. We were overcharged and I am taking this up with management. 3. I never got a welcome gift (part of my gold membership), was never properly greeted ("welcome to xyzx hotel) and when I mentioned this they did not respond but changed the subject.4. We usually do not need this but realized we had forgotten our toothbrushes and were told to "come get them" - when we got downstairs there were extra staff there (which could have brought them to us, which would have been SO appreciated as we were already in pajamas).5. Staff could use some customer service language training, a smile could not hurt either. 5. It was mostly empty and they claimed there was no room with plaza view, but there was literally hardly anyone in the hotel (parking also empty). 6. I have free nights with marriot points and could not use those. 7. The shower was so slippery I almost slipped. I do nto believe anyone has properly cleaned the floor of the shower. 8. The pate that is behind the temp control o=i the shower turned and was not isntalle dproperly. 9. The toilet doors did not close and kept jamming.9. There is little privacy in the bathroom and the bathroom area is not heated AT ALL - the window unit does not reach that far..... But oh it was so cold. We had cold air blowing on us in bed - then hot then cold. AWFUL - not worth $240. So...
Read moreI booked this hotel due to a couple of factors. Proximity to the Plaza, it’s touted as a business hotel and the reviews/photos on Marriott website. the staff was very friendly, however, after my experience I would not deem this as a business friendly hotel. First up, if you wanted parking, you had to pay for the whole stay. No in/out and was $24/day or you could street park which was very safe. Upon entry into the room, I noticed that the king room was extremely small. I’m talking NYC hotel small. Barely any room to move around. There was a small table with banquette that you could sit at. However, there were NO electrical outlets!!! I was working on this trip and had to plug my laptop in on the floor by the entryway. See pictures. The staff explained oh we have work areas in the lobby - I’m like what about calls, quiet rooms? 2nd, there were no outlets or side tables by the bed. No outlets to plug in devices, heating bad (that I needed for my back). and no place to put beverages, etc. no bedside table. I had to plug all my devices into 1 outlet by the super tiny sink, I was very paranoid that I would get them wet (see pictures). |Now on to the bathroom. I had 1 washcloth, 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels. That’s it.|I’m glad that this hotel was adjoined with the Cascade as I believe that is why the gym was very nice. All new and open with all the equipment you may need. also, in the Cascade there was a nice coffee bar to get my beverage each morning. Based on my nights’ stay at Aloft, I made the decision for only $15 more a night, I was going to switch over to the Cascade. I’m glad I did as this is what I had expected the Aloft would be like. Night & day on my experience, my sleep quality and how I wanted to spend my $. |final part of the review - I had NO iron, no ironing board, no hangers in the room. So I had to leave in a wrinkled outfit for my day out. |Overall very disappointed and this was an experience I didn’t expect...
Read moreWhen I tell you I loved the staff level of professionalism and willingness to assist me in my times of need...I am ever so grateful for these 3 young ladies Shamika, Keona, and Oliver! Each one of these ladies went above and beyond to help me out!! Keona was the true MVP!!!! Each time that I came to her in need she immediately addressed my concern and assisted me in that moment. I can't thank her enough for making my stay feel like a home away from home!!! She was very professional, attentive to my needs/concerns, kind, and very personable. She has a smile that will brighten up any room!! I told her if I had the ability to elevate her in her position and reward her with a financial increase that I would have done so because her leadership ability is impeccable!! I would also like to say the rest of the staff that I encountered in passing would always make eye contact, smile, and speak and I thought that was a beautiful thing. This place is like the "Chick-Fil-A" of hotels, lol...in other words they give great service with a smile!!
The hotel/room looked just like the pictures in person and I was extremely happy about that.
My dings would be (and this is just for the sake of being transparent/honest, because outside of the things I will mention below I have no complaints)
No access to a microwave - I feel like at the very least there should be one microwave in the front area for use.
-There was hair in my shower (which I didn't complain about because I always wear shower shoes) but it did make me question if the shower had been cleaned.
-The toilet paper on the roll wasn't a new one (which I know this happens at many hotels, so that is not the issue) the issue is it looked as if it had been wet and dried so it was a wrinkle dirtyish look. The look made me fear that some urine had gotten on it and it dried up :( Needless to say there was a fresh roll under the sink so I opened it and...
