I have never been here but when I asked my phone where a good place was for a Reuben sandwiches it guided me to Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches I will say as Iām sitting here out front because you canāt go in it does smell very good but there are approximately eight people standing out in front of the restaurant because they wonāt allow anybody in you have to knock on the door and then someone comes out sometimes with a mask sometimes without she took my order no problem and then handed it to me asking for a tip that did not work out in their favor after I ordered the Reuben I also tried to order some fries because thatās usually what I get and they do not offer fries which I understand it is in the basement of an old building and apparently they do not have a deep fryer which is OK with me I probably donāt need them anyway. Sawyer ordered some chips, an unsweet iced tea, a Reuben sandwich and asked if she could deliver it but she told me no but then I explain to her Iām sitting out in the truck because when I walked up I was in a cane and it is very difficult to walk . She mentions to me actually very cheerfully that she would not have a problem doing so I canāt honestly say Iām going to have an issue with the sandwich Iām sure itās gonna be very very tasty. I just donāt think itās a very good business to not answer your phone and only take orders from people that knock on your door I find that weird because most people are pulling up and they have already called in their order but the three times I dialed they would not pick...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDamned fine sandwich. My only complaint is the price -- and even then if you know what you are in for, the sandwich is probably worth the high cost.
My problem is that they have a menu posted outside of their restaurant with incorrect pricing. If you go inside and order at the counter, you find that the sandwiches are about $4 more than shown on the menu. It's correct on the small monitor inside the restaurant, as well as on the web site, but if you are just walking by and see the menu you will be unpleasantly surprised. Especially because the menu had whiteboard squares where the prices were handwritten in -- so it isn't that they need to reprint the menu. They just never bothered to change their public prices.
I expected the two sandwiches I ordered to be $22 plus tax, when they were actually $30. Add tax and tip and you are close to $40 for two sandwiches. They were good, don't get me wrong, but I didn't enjoy an almost 40% increase over the printed menu.
Edit: Glad to see that the owner removed the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEl Jefe, Bay Boy's version of the Cuban sandwich and it was delicious. This hot sandwich consisted of majo pulled pork, sliced honey ham, pickles, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pepper sauce served on their signature Dutch crunch rolls. It's also the sandwich pictured.
I'm still dreaming about that bread, in fact when we stopped in for dinner and almost very literally ran into the gal working, she explained that they had just run out of bread for the day, but they would be happy to fulfill our order with day old bread - which obviously we did.
My partner ordered The Bandit sandwich, which consisted of roast beef, red onions, smoked cheddar, horseradish, and raspberry jam. If you're thinking why? You're asking the wrong question, try it, it's delicious.
Cant' wait to go back for the Hot Pastrami or literally anything else they make. And I have it on good authority that their cookies are good too. Guess I'll...
