Super, super, expensive, but great products. Employee Joe was very helpful.
Really loved the store owner's "favorite cheese" its also my favorite, special select vella dry, along with the habanero version.
Also, the French Delice de Bourgogne is kind of a fancy cream cheese.
The Oregon Rogue River Blue, usually don't like blue cheese but enjoyed this and was told it is an award-winning cheese.
And the French comte Swiss cheese
I purchased about 10 others as well. None awful but realizing now that I truly enjoy it better than others, me when it comes to cheese. I don't need more than a few. When I was in the store, sampling them made me want to buy them all. I walked out with a small bag with $200 of cheese. I enjoyed the pimento cheese too. But for $20 for a tiny tub, I can't, if it was $8 I would still feel like "wtf am I doing". I don't care for the goat or sheep's cheeses I bought in hindsight. They're not bad but it's kind of like I can only eat so much cheese and I wouldn't pick that cheese. Another insight for me is that while I might occasionally stop in and grab the 1st four I mentioned, ultimately the black label $5 2-year-old white cheddar you can get at most Walmarts competes well with any of these cheeses for me. Maybe I'm not rich or fancy enough for this store, idk, still enjoyed it, and am glad they're in business, I wish their prices could be a bit lower though, for poor cheese lover boys such as myself...
Read moreOh, the Better Cheddar,
Where would I be without you? Words fail me: "world's best collection of cheeses, chocolates, charcuterie, and condiments" or "a true American gem, ode to the celebration of good food, good times, good company." From specialities of any given season, to the wines that pair beautifully. From the delicate soft cheeses of spring, to the hardy mountain cheese from the greater-Alpine regions of the world. Where else can you go for a bottle of Burgandy, a square of the blushing red-skinned French Brebirousse d'Argental, the decedant and perfectly bitter Venchi Chocolates? The intoxicating cadence and flow of freshly wrapped Iberico? That ruby veined vixen!
The Better Cheddar is a heritage piece embedded deep within Kansas City culture. The make fresh sandwiches, carry some great imported pasta noodles (huge variety of shapes and sizes) from Italy, the olive oils and vinegars are top notch, the chocolate and confections are divine, and the crew, well they're a unique ensemble from all walks of life congregating over the buzz of food, wine, and...
Read moreWorst experience in this store ever. The lady clerk was super rude for no reason. I politely asked if they carried a jar of sauce I’ve bought there many times over and she was rude and condescending. I was back home to KC visiting from out of town for the weekend and super excited to show my other half the store because we’ve bought there for years and even special ordered sauces with them. Now, my mother, myself, and any of my friends that purchased there will not be back. As someone who works in customer service perhaps you should approach customers with more respect and less condescending aggression. Even after I told her I wasn’t there to argue she proceeded to carry on the subject and was snarky and sarcastic to my mother on her way out. If I’m rude, I could see that behavior, but I was super polite and even tried to show her where it was previously located in the store and what the jar looked like. We spent over $150 in there today and that will be the last...
