Parker at The Fontaine — Restaurant in Kansas City

Okay, we planned to eat here after graduation today. I called ahead for a reservation and when we got there the guy at the front desk acted like it was his first day ANYWHERE. I asked where the restaurant was and he directed me to the 7th floor. I went up and met the rest of my party. It was about 4 o’clock and the place was pretty empty. The guy upstairs asked if we were there for drinks?? I replied, no we have a reservation. He said just a moment and left. A woman returned in his place and asked who I spoke with when I called. ( as if I would have asked for their name?) then she proceeded to tell me they don’t open for dinner until some time later. I was pretty annoyed so I really wasn’t listening any longer. I can’t understand why the first three men we encountered didn’t know the restaurant wasn’t open. Or felt they just couldn’t say it...? It was pouring rain and everyone just wanted to sit down and enjoy the rest of the day. Needless to say that didn’t happen. This place is a joke! And...

I went with a small group of friend for dinner. I ordered the Shellfish, the pasta was really salty, ​and the shellfish was not fresh. For dessert,​ a few of my friends ordered the sorbet (it was just 2 scoops of sorbet, nothing like the pictures from their website). The strawberry lemonade was pretty good; however,​ the other scoop (I don't know what it should have been) tasted like toothpaste just without the fluoride​. A woman​ from a large private party sat down next to our table and proceeded to throw up on the chair and the ground just as we were all having dessert. After she finished vomiting, her friend and the staff came to help, and at that point,​ she became belligerent and physical. Suffice to say we all lost our appetite, but it was a "good" show (if you are into that type of things.)​ I understand this experience may be​ a rare occurrence​ but when you are a $$$ restaurant, I am expecting​ more. I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile because it looks as though it has a beautiful view; as it does. It just so happened that we didn’t get to eat:/ my bf and I were sat down in the far corner and it took them 15 minutes to get us water (the man who got us water wasn’t even a waiter) then there was a couple sat behind us that got alcohol and got food ordered and delivered as well. Not a single person came over to check on us or take our order. We were sitting right next to the server registers, so someone HAD to have noticed we were just sitting there. We arrived at 7:23 and by 8:20 I was very frustrated and said we could go and make our own dinner. Nothing like spending anniversary night with cooking your own food at 9:30!
