If I could leave negative stars I would, let me explain.

My sister and brother-in-law hired Cupiniโ€™s to cater food for their 20th wedding anniversary vow renewal for the evening of Saturday Aug 23. Unfortunately my sister died unexpectantly on July 20. A few days after my sister died I spoke with Eddie, the owner of Cupiniโ€™s, and told him we wanted to cancel their catering order. Eddie told me that they donโ€™t offer refunds, to which I responded โ€œwhat does the contract sayโ€. His only reply was โ€œwe donโ€™t give refundsโ€. This interaction went on for a couple minutes with me asking about the contract and Eddie saying only that they donโ€™t give refunds. After conferring with my brother-in-law again, a lawyer who actually read the contract, he pointed out that the contract allows cancellation for any reason by either party and if the customer cancels they lose their deposit. Missouri law is evidently, according to my lawyer brother-in-law, crystal clear on the law here and said that we would easily win in court to get his money back but my brother-in-law was in no mood to take them to court days after his wife died.

I informed Eddie of the situation of my sisters unexpected death and said that we were asking for grace to help out our family and specifically my brother-in-law since he was out over $2500 in caterers fees. He was obviously not willing to do anything but lie to me so we were unable to cancel. He obviously cares more about the bottom line than providing humanely decent customer service to his customers, even those who are grieving. The only concession he made was that he changed the menu to provide finger food for the vow renewal event that had been turned in to a celebration of life for my sister. So we had a lot of food at her celebration of life but nobody who came was there for the food but to remember and grieve my sister. As a side note the food was good for what it was but it was way heavy on bread, probably 60%, that seems like a lot of bread for $2500.

Unfortunately Eddie has no shame or basic level of humanity. I hope and pray that Eddie is never treated the way he treated us during this incredibly...

Okay, first time trying this place! I was super excited to go, and it was recommended by a friend! My friends and I agreed to meet up here on Saturday evening. Thanks to a miscommunication, we ended up coming at 8:30 instead of 7:30. They close at 9, but with us being restaurant people, we planned ahead, decided what we wanted so we could order quickly! My boyfriend, best friend and I made it ahead of our party, ordered, and sat down with our table tent, ready to go. Our food came quickly and was very appetizing, and our other friends hadnโ€™t arrived yetโ€ฆ they came within ten minutes and were told they would have to order takeout. Keep in mind this place still had 20 minutes until they closed. We had been waiting for our friends to arrive to eat our food, and instead they are standing at the order counter waiting on togo containers. Talk about a let down! So here we are, half of our group eating from plates, the other half from togo containers. We were there for the same amount of time as we would have been, and some others were in there for longer than we wereโ€ฆ Just left a bad taste in our mouth from the service part. Again, we are restaurant people, so we get it, we should have been there earlier. But still, we felt rushed and we didnโ€™t get to enjoy ourselves as a group without stares and glares from the staff. I didnโ€™t want to speak to a manager at the time, but I figured I would just put something up hereโ€ฆ Not sure if I would give this place a...

This place was so bad, Iโ€™m at a loss for words. It was absolutely disgusting!

Out of the four meals I ordered not one thing was edible.

I ordered penne pasta with their vodka sauce and chicken. The sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce with no flavor whatsoever. There was no cream in it, which is what a vodka sauce should have.

The meatball sub was bland, with only bread, meatballs, and a spoonful of their inedible red marinara sauce. I couldnโ€™t even bring myself to finish the bite. The photos in their reviews showed cheese on top, but there wasnโ€™t any.

The margarita pizza was uncooked, with a raw bottom. The only thing that had any potential was the crust, but it was raw.

The turkey cold sub was equally disappointing. It had no flavor, and the only edible part was the bread. To top it off, they charge $3 for a $.25 bag of Lays chips. I thought Iโ€™d at least get a real bag of chips.

I love supporting local family-run businesses, but this isnโ€™t one of them. The food was absolutely terrible, and I wouldnโ€™t recommend it to anyone. I did order twice in one week thinking maybe they had an off day the first time. I wanted to give them a second chance since their reviews were so good. Unfortunately, all four meals I ordered went directly into the trash.

On the plus side, the food did arrive hot, but I do live only a few minutes away. Itโ€™s a shame all this food was...

Parking is tight and this is a Small, quaint place. Tough to order and/figure out the ordering process. A bit overwhelming for first timers like we were but worth the energy/wait FOR SURE. Once we ordered everything came out prompt, fresh and delicious! We dined in and it was our first time there. We ordered lasagna, bruschetta, tiramisu, a mini pizza, a caesar salad, wine and beer. It's great that your meal comes with a fountain beverage. I believe I saw and spoke with the owner briefly. After we sat at a dirty table, we noticed him present in pictures on the wall throughout the restaurant. He was cleaning and bussing tables and seen at the cashier station as well. We asked him where we stand to order and told him it was our first time there. He warmly welcomed us with a smile, showed us where we needed to stand to order and told us to grab a table where we can. The dining area is SUPER TIGHT but we loved the homey-feel and the warm ambiance. We saw him again while waiting for our food. He bussing a nearby table and I asked if he wouldn't mind cleaning ours when he was finished over there since we sat at a dirty one. He happily obliged and came right over to clean our table soon after. He was very kind, funny and helpful. This is our new favorite place!

From the moment I stepped into Cupini's, I knew I was in for a treat. It was my first visit, and the warm welcome I received set the tone for a truly impressive dining experience. The lasagna, a classic favorite, was nothing short of spectacular โ€“ each layer was a testament to the authentic flavors and care put into its creation. Cupini's boasts an extensive collection of both food and desserts, ensuring that every palate finds its match. The variety is commendable, and it's clear that quality is never compromised. What was interesting to me was the unique ordering process; you have to stand in line and order at the counter when it would be better if you could order at the table. The staff at Cupini's were exceptionally nice, contributing to an atmosphere that can only be described as cozy and inviting. It's the kind of place that makes you feel at home, and the attentiveness of the staff did not go unnoticed. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Cupini's. It's a gem in Kansas City that has earned a special place in my heart, and I'll definitely be back for more of those delightful flavors and the warm, cozy ambiance. If you haven't been yet, take it from a first-timer โ€“ you won't be disappointed.
