Took my husband to KC Wheel for his birthday and we purchased the date night package that includes (for two people) one ride on the KC Wheel, one round of the golf, two beverages, and one picture. We absolutely had a blast! The putt putt golf was fun, had several holes with obstacles. Nice touch having a hole in the shape of the KC Royal Crown and one with the shape of an arrowhead for the two major KC teams. They had beverages of all kinds - soda, hot chocolate, alcohol. The picture is taken and used with their digital backgrounds of the wheel and KC skyline. Now for the Wheel. It was AMAZING!!!! It was a long ride! About 15-20 minutes!! Worth the cost, completely! You only ride with your party and you go around so many times. It was exciting to see the view at night, the KC skyline, Union Station, Bartle Hall with the Marriott Hotel lights. You have more than enough time to take pictures and enjoy the view! The whole experience was fun, romantic, and an experience that puts pride and joy in every KC heart! We will definitely be going back to ride the Wheel more!! My only wish would be to add cupholders to the Wheel cars. Its hard to take pictures and hold your drink and since its moving, no place to set it down without risk of spilling. Also, staff was very friendly and helpful! Would highly recommend to city residents...
Read moreThe location has a nice view of downtown, plus you can see the WW1 memorial pretty well.
Otherwise, it isn't exactly on a beautiful waterway and is kind of wedged between highways and in a commercial / industrial area. Not the most scenic of spots.
The staff were pretty friendly.
The Farris wheel pods were air-conditioned and reasonably comfortable. I think they circled you about three times.
The prices aren't exactly low, but little kids and babies under three are free. Plus they have the occasional sale which might make it more reasonable.
They had a mini golf course on site. It looked pretty flat and linear, while also being pretty much entirely exposed in the sun and concrete without shade .. so might be worth checking out on a really nice day or evening. We skipped it this time around, so I can't give a concrete rating on it being worthwhile or not.
They have a parking lot partially under the freeway, so there is some sheltered parking from the extreme heat or rainy weather.
But, not a bad way to spend a little chill time with some...
Read moreThis was a great experience for my family BECAUSE we bought VIP. if you do not purchase VIP and just buy a general ticket, you have to wait in line with no guarantee of a spot. I was angry for the people in line having to do this as there was a 2 hour wait and no one knew of this stipulation until they arrived. The only solution they were able to offer is that “your tickets are valid for 90 days”. This is heartbreaking for individuals like me who are only here to see family for a short time. This needs to be put all over their website in order to prevent people from purchasing tickets they might not even be able to use on the date they purchase them. By advertising a ticket for a specific date, you are allowing people to expect to ride on that date without an extensive wait time. These tickets should instead be labeled as “general admission for one ride within 90 days”. Additionally, there is only ONE VIP gondola available on the wheel. This limits the amount of ensured spots per time slot. This means you would need to plan your trip...
