New in town, wanted to check out a local Mexican food joint. Came in and it was semi busy with a single waitress/bartender working, or that's my assumption, was hard to tell. It's a bit of a small place but nice and cozy when you're sat down either in booth or at bar. I had the carne asada burrito pueblito, al pastor street taco, and a horchata. For the food alone I'd give 5 stars. I thought reading the burrito on the menu it'd be one thing and it was something else. The hot sauce is a must try. The reason it's getting 4⭐️ instead of 5 is because even though it was busy, the overall welcoming was a bit more of a 2⭐️. I get that there was some tables in there and a 12-top that just sat, but I came in, there was no sign stating whether I should wait or just sit. The menus were at the bar and despite me walking up and grabbing one and kind of waiting at the bar for some info: not a single person that seemed staff or behind bar said anything or gestured to me at all for a solid 3 minutes despite me practically being in their face. Not a "hi just a moment" or "can I help" or a "seat yourself I'll be there in a minute". I only got an answer when I asserted myself asking if it was a seat yourself or wait to be seated and order sort of place and was told I could sit down. Afterwards I looked through the menu but again for about 10 minutes no one notioned towards me or anything. So I got up again and asserted myself into the bartender making a drink to see if I could order after. She stopped and took my order but seemed a little flustered by it, mentioning I could sit at the bar if I wanted. Now, after this the experience was night and day, it didn't take long at all to get my food. I was clarified of my taco preference, asked about if I wanted sauce, or if I needed anything more. Food was great as I mentioned above. I'm a big burrito guy and it didn't disappoint. Horchata was pretty good too. I realize the negativity of above might not spell an earned 4 ⭐️ review, but as I said as soon as I made myself known and ordered my food it was a whole new experience. I'd chalk it up to bad and busy timing and short staffing. I definitely give it another try, just hoping I...

The absolute worst Customer Service ever and no management on duty! We waited to be seated for nearly an hour and then could not get a server to even acknowledge we were sitting there. Despite the many servers that walked past and looked at us without acknowledgement! Despite the three servicers myself and my boyfriend asked to assist us. We were met with the rolling of the eyes and I'm not your server, I don't know who is! Noone wanted to help or get help! People who went to the bar, seated themselves without waiting to be sat or who came in behind us with to go orders were serviced and some leaving by the time we received water (tasted like the pipes it came out of; worst taste ever) and chips (completely stale). Which incidentally I had to go to the bar three times to get someone to bring those to us. I had to ask the server several times to stop cleaning the table next to us and take our order. She then began to argue with the young lady who was bringing us chips and water why our order hasn't been taken. This young lady responds they're not my table. This particular lady is the same lady I asked when we first sat down if she was our server as she took someone's order who not only sat after us, but sat themselves! She told us no with the rolling of their eyes! No willingness to find out who was! The lady who I had to ask to stop cleaning the tables and come take our order because we were tired of waiting. Blurts out how can I help you with a not so great disposition! Then proceeds to talk to three different people standing behind us as they were walking in, still requiring us to wait until she finish her conversations. Then she walks up behind me and repeats what can I get you! This set the whole table off!

This place was absolutely horrible! Over an hour in with no food, no service to speak of, and no management to speak with! One star is the lowest I...

No matter when you go into this place and the owner is there its not a good time. Had tried to order over the phone the day before. Staff likes to hang up on people because they have caller ID. They really need to grow up. Business is business. Went in Thursday to oder to go. Not very busy at all. Only order a cheese dip. Pretty easy right! It took them over 15 mins to make. When they finally brought it out it was a small amout with no chips! Had to ask for chips. Didn't notice that the owner and his son were sitting next to me. Then he started telling the couple. "Do you know who she is?" Told her no one and gave her my first name. He told me she was a Chamber member. Didn't say a word. He likes to throw around names like he's someone. It didn't stop there. The girl he introduced me to approach my friend and I table. She started to accuse my friend of taking her picture and that she was a lawyer. If you are a good lawyer you wouldn't be sitting with a child drinking. Then you would advise that child and his daddy the owner video tapping someone with out consent is illegal. Shame she represents the Chamber the way she did. To top it all off she had everyone in the restaurant on their phones filming her she didn't say anything to them. The little boy at the table had more sense than her to tell her to take a sit. She told him to tell us to go and he would refund our money back. He went and got our money placed it on the table, the pick it back up and took it. They play too many little kids games. I took a picture so I had proof of the owners son sitting there while they drank video tapping...

El Pueblito was Sooo good guys. Delicious shrimp crviche that's still yummy 12 hours later (refrigerated of course). I have high standards for tamales and this place hut the mark! The street tacos are really well done in a simple way. The al pastor (pork, onion, pineapple) meat is so good and you can get it in tacos, chimichangas, burritos, etc. One of these salsas is sooo good despite being spicy, totally worth the heat for the flavor.. not sure what's in it but think it's probably a green salsa. Just everything was delicious.

After party goers hang here at night, so not a family environment I went at midnight but I'm pretty sure isn't different during the day. The tripas tacos are the best I ever had since I left my hometown Torreon Coah in Mexico! Pastor absolutely great too. So of you are in the middle of the night hungry in Kansas City this place is open all night until 4:30 AM Bad thing smokers are allowed so they can ruin your dinner if you are seated outside. And prices are pretty fair to me. 100% Recommend

El Pueblito is my favorite Mexican happy hour spot (3-7 & 10-midnight)! Try the mini tacos and patron margaritas, 2 for 1! The chips, salsa, guacamole, white queso, flautas, sopa de fideo and ceviche are all also great. They usually have music videos playing, giving the cozy space a fun vibe and sometimes on the weekend nights they have live music. In the summer they have a few nice big tables outside. They're known for their fish tacos but I haven’t tried them, yet!
