Palacana — Restaurant in Kansas City

The only time I went to Palacana was back in March 2022, and the place went by the name of “Paleterias Tropicana”. Palacana is known for serving homemade, authentic Mexican ice cream, paletas, fruit cocktails, smoothies, churros, and traditional Mexican lunch & dinner dishes. When I went to Palacana (formerly called Paleterias Tropicana), I was impressed with seeing how many flavors of ice cream and sorbet sold there. Palacana is truly a chain of Mexican paleterias with 5 locations in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and one location in Wichita, KS. Palacana as “Paleterias Tropicana” was founded in 2004 and the Southwest Boulevard location is Palacana’s original flagship store.

The menu at Palacana has a little bit of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a wide variety of every kind of Mexican dessert that a typical paleteria may serve. When I went to Palacana that was known as “Paleterias Tropicana” in March 2022, I ordered the Strawberry and Cheese ice cream flavor and it tasted what it sounded like which was strawberries mixed with cheese, but it was almost similar to a Strawberry Cheesecake. The place had good service, and the ice cream I ordered taste great. I hate to leave a bad review because they really are one of my favorite places but this visit fell very short. First of all the lady that prepared our ice cream proceeded to use gloves only to cut a piece of fruit then took them off to grab whipped cream and then grabbed cherries and wafers with her bare hands, I was thinking to myself, "she must have washed her hands prior", but then she immediately went to cash register and processed payments from another customers as well as mine then went back to serving customers, please make sure your employees are not handling money and grabbing food with bare hands! Then when I was taking a bite out of the ice cream a large piece of plastic was imbedded in the gansito ice cream. I don't know why that would be in there but we then proceeded to throw away the rest of the ice...

This place is so small. I ordered the dorilocos , a manzana loca and a gansito icecream. Everything was good but not worth the hype the website gives out. The reason why I give it 3 stars is because I did not like that employee was spraying cleaning liquid to the glass doors were most likely it will eventually sip into the icecream. This is not sanitary. Please spray the cloth and then swipe. Other than that, the patio had alot of bees and homeless people walking in and out of the store. I did not feel safe eating outside so I ate my stuff in the car. Flavor wise its really...
