On a Monday evening, 24 JUL, my wife and I visited B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC at The Power & Light District to watch the movie "Oppenheimer." The establishment boasts an amazing interior with direct access to the bar area of the adjacent Johnnie's Jazz Bar & Grille. The theater is reserved seating, providing a comfortable movie-watching experience. However, my overall experience was marred by the lackluster staff and disappointing food offerings.
Ambience and Amenities: B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC has an impressive ambience that creates a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The convenience of having access to a bar area allows patrons to enhance their movie experience with drinks and socializing. The reserved seating option ensures that moviegoers can select their preferred seats in advance, making it easy to plan and enjoy the movie without worrying about finding a good spot.
Staff and Service: Unfortunately, my experience with the staff at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC was less than satisfactory. The biggest disappointment was the lack of attentiveness and professionalism displayed by the staff behind the counter. During my visit, I noticed some employees preoccupied with their phones and seemingly disinterested in assisting customers promptly. To make matters worse, the staff seemed disorganized when it came to handling food orders. After waiting for an hour, I discovered my food sitting under a heat lamp, evidently forgotten by the staff who after ten minutes of Initially waiting, ensured they would bring it to our seat as they could not find the chief. One staff member even displayed anger while trying to locate her missing personal white claws in the refrigerator located in the kitchen. It was very odd.
Food Quality and Value: The food offerings at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC did not live up to expectations. The popcorn, is lackluster, never fresh or hot during the four times I visited. The soft pretzel and funnel cake fries were equally underwhelming, lacking the flavor and quality that one would expect at a movie theater. The fact that my food was left under a warming light for an extended period further diminished the value of the already subpar offerings. As there are several food options available around the theater's location, I would advise patrons not to waste their time or money on the food served at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC. Exploring nearby restaurants or eateries would likely offer a more satisfying dining experience.
Restrooms: A noted observation of the restrooms is they seem to always be in a generally poor state, this is an observation that spans across my four visits. On 24 July, I was greeted with an overwhelming odor that indicated a lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness. The floors were sticky, and the soap dispensers were empty, making it impossible to practice proper hygiene. The state of the restrooms at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC was far from acceptable. Clean and well-maintained bathrooms are not only a basic expectation but also a reflection of the establishment's commitment to providing a quality experience for its customers. Regrettably, in this regard, B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC failed to meet expectations.
Overall: B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC at The Power & Light District has the potential to be a great movie-watching destination with its appealing ambience and reserved seating options. However, the disappointing staff service and lackluster food offerings were major drawbacks during my visit. The unprofessional behavior of some staff members left a lasting negative impression. For those seeking a top-notch movie experience with attentive staff and better food options, it might be worth considering other theaters in the area. While B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC has some positive aspects, improvements in management and food quality are necessary to elevate the overall experience...

Read moreAll for supporting movie theaters but damn.
We took the kids down here, despite it being more inconvenient than most, we wanted to live it up and try something new. I guess I'm glad to have tried it, but the worn out vibes, the not-so-helpful skeleton crew, and some other issues have me admitting it was a mistake.
This used to be a shiny, vibrant feeling theater as the Alamo Drafthouse, but now it feels like it's hanging on for dear life. When we walked in it was silent, and they had the guy running the snacks also doing ticket check in. So basically we had to wait in line to get scanned as the poor guy was overstretched. I figured let's grab a bottle of water which was like $7-$8.. ridiculous.
One of the selling points is we thought they did food here so we could get dinner -- nope. Kitchen was closed.
For the kids movie we saw (Eleo) it was all the way up and the escalators were broken. Schlepped our way up carrying the youngest and through the uncanny, silent space. Saw the movie, were the only ones there, the theater was fine if not a little odd.
When we were leaving I asked someone working how to validate my parking. Instead of, you know, doing it, he pointed me to a little white machine. I put my ticket in, but it didn't seem quite right. I asked the guy (who was wearing AirPods) if it worked and he said yes. I started to put it through to double check and he emphatically stopped me from it and assured me it worked.
So we haul the kids back to the Cosentino's garage, wait forever to get out of it, and then when we scan our ticket instead of the gate opening we get his with a $27 charge, despite having seen a movie and having parking covered per their website. I was freaking pissed, but we had a ton of cars behind us and no one manning the booth (side note, companies, you can't keep trying to get away with having no one working your space, your businesses simply don't function without people.) I ate the charge and reached out to the theater about it.
Valerie with customer service was friendly, but let me know the manager essentially said they won't be doing anything about it.
So yeah, $60 for a movie that will be streaming in a few weeks, $7 for a small bottle of water, and $27 for parking that should've been free.
Hard pass on this and any other theaters this group runs, this was a...
