Normally I would have given this place a higher rating. But my experience here recently wasn't that great. Upon arrival, it was not busy at all as only a few small tables were occupied. We were told to sit anywhere by a server and then she wandered off. We chose a table and sat there for a good 15 minutes watching the staff stand around and chit chat even though they repeatedly looked over at our table knowing we had not been waited on. Eventually one of the guys in the kitchen that all the servers had been running their mouths with, meanders over to a nearby table and starts to clear off some dishes and asks us if we had been waited on yet. Since he had been one of the staff who had looked over at us several times since we sat down, he clearly knew that we hadn't. And instead of taking AT LEAST our drink orders to get us started, he just says, "I'll go see if I can find your server for you" and walks back to the kitchen. After another 5 minutes, a girl walks over to our table and gives us some kind of excuse about supposedly having to take care of some dishes in the kitchen to try to explain her inattentiveness. As a server, her reasoning made no sense to me. So we place our order, and after a while we receive our food. As my husband and I are eating, we can hear the nearby staff all gathered around the bar talking loudly to each other. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, except that every other word out of their mouths was a cuss word; primarily the F bomb. One of the servers was also loudly complaining about prior customers who didn't tip her as well as she clearly thought she deserved (and she just happened to be our server as well). Now, I understand that this is a sports bar and grill, and it's a much more laid back atmosphere than other family restaurants. However I still would think a certain level of professionalism would be required in any establishment. While our food was as good as it always is, the staff really put a sour taste in my mouth. Maybe some re-training...
Read moreI went here on a Friday night about 7:30pm and had the worst experience ever, it was crazy packed and I wanted wings to go, the bar was full so I went to the end of the bar for assistance and the waitress was rude advising me to ask a bartender, I didn't know how I would do that with the bar being so crowded, so finally I got a bartender and I had to scream at the top of my lungs that I wanted a to go order twice when the waitress should have pulled a bartender to the side, after shouting over the crowd at the bar twice, he was irritated, asked me to come to the end of the bar and I asked again for a to go order and with an attitude he replied, I heard you, and he continued making drinks, I asked for a menu and he clearly had an attitude forcing the menu in my hand, as I browsed the menu debating if I wanted to order from here, he walked off, not letting me know the process, keep in mind, it was my first time here, finally a very nice man was bringing a order to the bar asked me if I needed help, he helped me to the best of his capacity, I ordered and they advised me of a 20 minute wait so I went to the bathroom, came back, saw a empty table so I sat and a crowd walked up and said it was their table as I didn't know because it was my first time there, I saw chairs on the sideline and sat and finally met a nice lady that ordered take out too, she had wine, I was waiting for them to ask if i wanted a drink while I waited, and they didn't which I wasn't surprised, finally my order comes out and the same bartender made me hold my food, purse and receipt to sign, which was very difficult, and get this, I still tipped him, and to add insult to injury, when I got home, the wings were fried hard and were very dried out, I probably won't go here again, customer service was poor and I felt out of place, I'm guessing because I'm African American and was the only African...
Read moreCouldn't wait to try the Peanut, after hearing rave reviews. Specifically, I was looking for the best wings in KC. The server was friendly, and adequate (they were fairly busy) so I consider slow service more of a staffing issue than a slow server. We had the stuffed, breaded mushrooms for an appetizer...they were good. The filling, cream cheese, gouda, and parmesan could have used some more seasoning...or maybe a smoked gouda for a little more gastronomic bang. One of us ordered their classic burger..it was just that a straightforward, well-executed, to temp burger. I ordered the Mac and cheese and added brisket. When it came out, I immediately saw a generous amount of barbecue sauce on top of the plate. I must not have read about the BBQ sauce on the menu. Needless to say..I wasn't thrilled. I really wanted to taste their brisket and the cheese sauce on the Mac. Fortunately, it was great. Now, for the wings. Honestly, I was giddy with anticipation. They serve the entire wing...tip included. I took the first bite of the thickest..should be juiciest part of the wing. It was dry! They were heavily sauced, and the sauce was great...but the wing was overcooked and dry. That was a monumental disappointment. When pizza Hut serves juicier wings than a place known for their wings..well, it must have simply been a bad batch or an oversight from whoever was on the fryer. Anyway, we only ate a couple. Probably...
