Very slow! We were a party of three. There was a family of four ahead of us and two single people waiting for their orders when we arrived. We did not order for over 15 minutes as the next party in line. The woman working said that the people ahead of us had been waiting for a very long time so it would be a minute before she got to us. When we finally ordered the woman was rude and condescending to the person in our party who had a question and did not order the way she wanted her to. She was telling the woman what she did want on her sundae and the woman only wanted her to tell her what she didn’t want and raised her voice at the person in our party. After ordering, it took over 45 minutes to receive our order of two shave iced and a sundae. After about 20 minutes of waiting and one order going out she walked out of the hut and told us that she was going to the bathroom and would start our order next after she got back. She then asked us to go sit down somewhere and it felt as though she was annoyed by us. After 45 minutes or so we received our order. My husband and I had a goal to have shave ice every day of our trip to Kauai in April. Riptides was our 3rd one and it was THEE BEST! We stayed in a condo right by the beach they are on and I was so glad because we went there a 2nd time for one of our days! My husband loves mochi so that was a fantastic option for him! We got the organic both times. So worth the $2 more! I love coconut so had that with another flavor each time. It's like actual juice instead of syrup. There are two things I would have loved to have that other places did and that is 2 size options because I would have gotten an even larger one, and the macadamia nut ice cream over vanilla, which was the only ice cream option. It was still fantastic and I would recommend it hands down over any of the others we tried. Also the beach right across from it had the best snorkeling and it's not busy! Great sunset spot as well! Riptides Shave Ice & Snacks on Kauai gets a glowing 5 stars from me! This place totally stole the show for shave ice on our entire trip. First off, the location is unbeatable - right on the beach! Perfect for cooling down after a day in the sun. But what really sets them apart is the quality. They use fresh fruit syrups, and you can really taste the difference. We really appreciate this type of syrup, because our son has a sensitivity to food coloring. It's so much more refreshing and flavorful than the typical artificial stuff. And get this - they actually poke holes in the shave ice before pouring the syrup on! This might seem like a small detail, but it makes a huge difference. The syrup gets all the way down, so every single bite is bursting with flavor. We tried shave ice at a few other places on Kauai, but Riptides was hands down the best. They absolutely deserve...
