We unexpectedly stumbled into Scotty Browns restaurant on I think their first or second day open (which we didn’t know until we returned for a second visit), we got drinks at the bar which were delicious the Mai tai with the guava foam was top notch. My husband got the Collin’s cocktail which he enjoyed. We then asked to place an order for take out while we finished our cocktails. We got the chicken sandwich and Gyozas both were delicious (the sandwich was big and messy in good ways). Bar service was great, helpful and had great customer service. We decided to get takeout from here another evening but we were told not takeout was available yet since it was their first few days open so we were confused since we’d gotten takeout out a day or two before this interaction. We left confused and disappointed. We came back another evening to sit down for dinner, we were told the wait was about 15 minutes, it ended up closer to almost 30 minutes but today we knew they were newly opened so expected some hiccups. Our waitstaff was kind & friendly however our drinks that were ordered at the same time came out about 10 minutes apart from each and before our appetizer arrived our cocktails we’d already finished them (we casually sipped and aren’t big drinkers) and we were offered another round which we declined and then our appetizer (sushi roll) came out with our entrees (chicken sandwich and dinner salad) with a mention that the kitchen was backed up. Again, the food was delicious, as were the cocktails. I imagine once the first few weeks is under their belt it’ll hopefully be more smooth with consistent communication about the take out situation and timing with staff is worked out. We definitely plan on giving them another try on our next visit to Kauai.
Another suggestion which may sound silly and picky but that might help guests is that if the shopping center is hosting events with musicians that patio music is turned down. The live entertainment in the area of the patio dining was distracting from the music being played on the restaurant patio. Both were good “playlists” but the dueling music was distracting and also made it hard to try to also have a...

Scotty Brown’s has quickly become one of our absolute favorite spots! The food is consistently outstanding—every single visit has been just as good (if not better) than the last. We’ve found ourselves coming back more than a handful of times in a very short window, and each time we’ve been proud to bring family and friends along to share in the experience.
Beyond the amazing food, it’s the people who make dining here so special. A huge thank you to Avalon, the incredible floor manager, who went above and beyond (and surprised us with gyoza!). Shawn, the boss, sets the tone with such warmth and professionalism. Our servers Leslie and Presley both made us feel so cared for—attentive, kind, and always with a smile. And from the moment we walk in, Bella and Abby greet us so graciously, setting the perfect start to the evening.
Scotty Brown’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place that makes you feel welcome, cared for, and excited to return again and again. We are so grateful for the consistently wonderful food and the amazing team that makes it all...
Read moreThe wait was nearly an hour to get our food, after being seated. The server was apologetic so I won't fault her. The owner should have been the one to visit the patrons waiting for food. The kitchen was behind on orders, we were told, so they even stopped accepting walk-ins. Ok, I totally can understand. Then an obvious friend of the owner showed up & was seated immediately with a drink on their table within 3-4 minutes. He even seated them himself! What kind of message does that give your patrons that waited a ridiculous time for service? Even the table of 4 behind us was asking, how much longer for their food...the poor server was dishing out apologies left and right. Message to the owner, your food was good, not great so you can improve in those circumstances by perhaps visiting the patrons and offer a free drink or dessert for the inconvenience. Hopefully you're able to get your kitchen chefs up to speed by the next time we visit. We truly had been looking forward to eating at your restaurant because of the reviews & menu. Sadly, it was a huge...
