The Great American Bagel — Restaurant in Kenner

While waiting to board my plane on 7/4 for the 2nd time in a week at NEW ORLEANS INTERNATIONAL (MSY) I purchased a bagel on 6/28 and the staff was annoyed at the fact that they were even at work and pretty much argued with me over my choice . Which was an everything bagel which I guess they don’t have . This morning it was a straight up “WE AINT OPEN!” They told me they were opening at 7:30 . As a restaurant owner myself I understand that it’s hard to find staff or good staff for that matter. But this kiosk is in the Airport where 1,000s of people a day see your business if they eat there or not. . Why do these girls insist on working for this place if they hate it so damn much. When I went next door to purchase a breakfast sandwich I thanked the lady for being nice. I told her how rude the girls were next door & she said “ oh I hear that every morning “ . I purchased a breakfast bagel this morning and was immediately asked "which bagel?" as if it was an included option. I quickly chose and was rung up and paid but looking at my receipt realized the Asiago was an upcharge of $2. It's impolite to offer an upgrade option to a customer without mentioning it is an extra charge. It's confusing and feel underhanded. Staff is rude and when we walked up initially to look at the menu we were rudely told to take 2 steps to the left into the ordering area because we were too close to the check out line. There was no one in line and we were simply attempting to read the menu. Avoid this place...

The place was busy the morning after Fat Tuesday. There was one person working and I could tell she was exhausted after a busy morning. I asked her for the last bagel in the display, a jalapeno cheddar with cream cheese. She was so very pleasant and made my order while telling me she planned on restocking the display in a few moments. Very good employee and I hope she gets recognized for outstanding customer service.
