Stay away from this place at all cost folks. Unless you love acquiring foodborne illnesses. today is 5 January 2023. I want to let folks know about the service, or lack thereof, from the Canl street Wendy's in Kennewick. I got to the place at 635PM and sat in the drive through line for 10 minutes. Nothing moved. There was space in front of the car at the speaker but he wasn't moving. I guess nobody was thinking about taking his order. Several cars left while I was sitting there. I should have followed them. I'm a little stubborn so I thought I'd go inside and see if I could get something in there. Big Mistake. While I was waiting for someone, anyone, to take my order, I was watching the folks meandering around behind the counter. There was a red headed girl with a long pony tail putting burgers together, She was wearing the required gloves but apparently nobody told her that you aren't supposed to wipe your nose while wearing them. At least change gloves after you do. She didn't. I saw her do this several times. I decided I had no intention of ordering anything but my morbid curiosity made me stay to see just how long I would have to wait. After about 4 minutes a red bearded gentleman came up front by the counter. His job apparently is to stand and stare at the TV screen above the counter and ignore the customers. He did at one point open a paper sack and place it on the counter then back to string at the screen. After a minute or two he moved the bag to the counter behind him and back to the screen. The pony tail was busy though. She went to the back and mixed up some sort of milkshake mix in a bag and bring it up front to the machine. All while wearing the same gloves. She went back and picked up some boxes from the floor and took them in the back out of sight. Then back to building burger while still apparently wearing the same gloves. her nose was still bothering her causing a few more wipes. After 12 minutes of waiting a short hispanic looking gentleman came up to tell me it would be " a few minutes" before he could help me. I told him no thank you, I've been watching how long they were taking to serve folks (in 12 minutes they served out one order to the counter and 2 to the drive through) and I wanted to eat sometime before tomorrow. I walked out never intending to darken their door again. I'll go to the Richland location. I always get good service there. As an afterthought, I went to the Carl's Junior by Lowe's. Read moreSecond time trying Wendy's. First time was Wendy's in Richland over a year ago, and it was absolutely horrendous, which is why it took me a whole year to get over it and try again. Richland Wendy's had extremely rude employees on top of employees who obviously take little pride in their work, including the manager that day. When I drove away from the take out window half way down the road I just thought, something about the weight of that bag did't feel right, so I pulled over into the Arby's parking lot to see half the order was missing. When I went back to get my other half rather than apologize they decided to have me wait a good 20 minutes while they serviced all of the remaining drive thru, treated me like it was my fault they were incompetent.Needless to say by the time I got home all the food was far from warm and fresh. Great job Richland Wendy's!! Fast forward today 11/25/20. I'm really wanting a chili. I want The Dive's chili but it's too far for me now since I've moved when once I was so, so close :(. Anyway my friend in another state (my home state) kept telling me to give Wendy's another chance. He was the one who told me they had 'the best' burgers lol, which they don't but whatever, I decided if I want to get out of this chili crave it's either Wendy's Kennewick or Stagg's from the grocery store. Too lazy to change to go inside a store so it's Wendy's. The line was crazy long. But amazingly fast. My first thought was ,, 'oh great. if they can move a line this fast my order will be missing half again'. Richland moved like turtles but still messed up so...when I got to the window the guy was so, so darn friendly even being so busy. He packed up the food very efficiently and even explained to me what was in each bag. Got home and EVERYTHING was accounted for and neatly prepared too. The jr cheeseburger still isn't 'the best' burger only because the patty is so flat like only a sliver, so it's more like eating a veg with condiments sandwich with a hint of ground beef flavor. The chili also was not the greatest, Stagg would've been better. The winner here are the nuggets because they actually taste like real chicken. The baked potato also a winner. But the real winner here belongs to the staff! They can't help that the food is lack luster but they can help how they treat their customers and efficiency and they did great this, my second visit to a Wendy's ever, first visit to Kennewick. If your walking in and need to use the restroom first before ordering you cannot sadly, hold it in and place your order then let them know you gotta use it because restrooms are for paying customers only. don’t forget to bring a fly swatter while your at it, flies at this location are a thing sadly. Secondly, I find it extremely unprofessional when you have almost a full kitchen crew outside hanging out together whether it be on break or just because it’s “slow” when there are actually customers in drive thru waiting to order and you gotta wait for them to return to their positions… need i say more… this location really needs some improvement in services.
UPDATE: since then was skeptical of returning for a quick snack for my sister and myself, the store has definitely gone through a renovation. Atmosphere was clean and the service was so great this time around I am happy to say it’s gone from the last bad review to one of the better places to return to now.
