Headline: the negative reviews were correct.
My family and I decided to come here for dinner on a Friday, as we live in downtown and love to support local restaurants. We were excited to try this new place! I read some reviews about poor service, but I figured they were just negative people…
We walked in and although they have done some nice updates to the space (we frequently came to Ashling on the Lough), the service (and lack of) was awful:
We waited many minutes for an employee to acknowledge us, even though 3 were just talking, socially, near us. When someone did talk with us, she said she would set up our tabs for the taps, and when we told her only one of us would be drinking, you could see the annoyance on her face. Her tone got flat and she said, “just sit anywhere; someone will be with you”. We first tried to sit outside, but they built a new railing and the picnic tables barely fit within. It was a very tight fit and since we had a stroller, we couldn’t park it anywhere that wouldn’t be in the way. We did choose an inside table, and had a toddler in our party, but they didn’t have a high chair available (they only have 2 and one table had both). This is obviously a risk anywhere, but just a note for parents and management to consider more. We sat at our table for 10+ minutes and not one person came to wait on us.
We left and walked to the Wine Knot, and sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful meal! I am sad about our experience, as we met one of the owners outside during their soft-opening, and she was very nice and excited about their new place. We loved the food at Ashling, and were hoping to keep coming to this...
Read moreThese days, baby showers can now be a family event so why not a tap house! We needed a convenient location to bring family/friends together from Wisconsin & Illinois that would have a casual vibe, a unique private space and great food. After visiting several places, David at Kenosha TapHouse made it an easy choice. Working with him by phone and through a few text messages, he and his crew knocked it out of the park. On one of the busiest days in Kenosha, they catered to our need for dietary menu choices, decorating time, managing public service and our guests with great hospitality! A shout out to Bailey and her service team. I believe we were their first baby shower and hopefully there will be more. The tap system gave all our guests choices of draft beers and drinks. We had a buffet and all the food was fabulous...and the cheese curds!!!! You gotta try the curds! I can't forget to mention the view of the marina and the outdoor space. Wish I had more photos of the space but we received so many compliments from our guests that we know it was a memorable events. Thanks again David & Kenosha...
Read moreSelf service which sounds cool but its not. At first seemed ok as employee showed us around explaining how it worked. Was very friendly so wife and I gave it a shot. Tried several different beers but every time it was several ounces of foam before beer. You pay for every ounce that comes out so don't dump anything.hoping for a better pour. On my second beer the keg ran out. It poured 2 ounces before that and I was charged for that 2 ounce beer and the full 16 ounce one after employee changed the keg. I even told the guy dont charge me for the 1st pour since the keg ran out and he said no worry. Nothing worse than being lied too!! Thats bad business there. Should of just been one charge, so that was a total rip off and this place is incredibly expensive. Came on a Monday afternoon which was happy hour and paid $32 for 4 beers plus the 2 ounce pour. I expected to pay around $20 at most so can't recommend this place to anyone. Total shame as the inside is spacious plus they have a...
