⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Taste of Home Right Here in Kent! 🇰🇪❤️ From the moment my family and I walked into Rafiki Restaurant and Lounge, we were treated like VIPs! We kicked things off with some delicious sambusa and Kenyan sausage—flavor-packed and perfectly spiced. For the main course, I had matumbo, sukuma wiki, and of course, ugali—the holy trinity of comfort food! And to top it all off? Kenyan chai and mandazi for dessert. Just chef’s kiss! 😋☕️🍩 Special shoutout to Purity, who was an absolute gem. Her warmth, service, and smile made the whole experience even more memorable. She’s truly an asset to the Rafiki family. The owner Solomon and his amazing wife Nancy even came out to greet us and chat—it felt like visiting old friends. The vibe, the music, the décor… it all made me feel like I was right back in Nairobi city. ✨🇰🇪 Rafiki is not just a restaurant—it’s a whole vibe. I’ll definitely be back. Asante sana! 🙌🏾

We enjoyed our second visit to Rafiki (friend), where every opportunity is made to Karibu Rafiki (welcome friend). On both of our visits, everyone has been welcoming and gracious. As we entered, we turned to the left to the restaurant. Turning to the right takes you to the lounge. On Friday night, it was packed. A few months earlier at lunch time there was just a few in the room. For dinner, we enjoyed Tilapia, Chicken and Goat dishes. The presentation was excellent and the flavors were wonderful. At my lunch visit the collard greens were the best I ever had. At dinner, the flavor was not to my taste, but good. There is no dessert menu, which to my sweet tooth as disappointing. When we reheated our leftovers from the large proportioned dinner, the food was almost as good as dinner the night before. We plan to return to Rafiki for lunch or dinner soon.

Bad customer service by owner.was visiting from Bay Area my friend was excited to take us with 2 other guest for a music concert they were very curious to learn anew culture, food and drinks.as we waited we ordered some drinks the waitress was professional and welcoming. All went well.I then decided to order beer they said they sell in a bucket pack of 6.which was ok .I requested them to open for me a few bottles here comes the owner saying it’s by law she is supposed to open all the bottles at once.Note carefully this a very small crowded place who would watch the open 6 beers when we are at the dance floor?someone can mess up with your drink.I believe people who club knows about caution don’t leave your open drink unattended.why would they want to open all at once?what I do with my drink is my business it’s already paid for. Then when she came she sent the innocent waitress to tell us to leave we had paid 25dollars entrance each we were 5 that’s 125 for music concert.we were very ready to leave on condition we get a refund for the tickets.we didn’t see the reason to be kicked out .then they decided to ask for payment first to be able to get more drinks.which we were ok with it.but I don’t know why they should do that it’s embarrassing.we had no problem paying upfront if it’s their policy by why later?I’m actually used to classier pubs where we always pay upfront .Then later a man came with a dirty used napkin and deliberately throws on our table when he was asked he was so ready to start a fight my friend told the waiter about it they never took any action that was fishy I think they were trying to start a fight we decided to stay but our guests were very worried. Go at your own peril! Take your $ somewhere else where you will be treated with respect and dignity.I believe customer...

Long awaited review and I never do these!!! Finally step in after wanting to try this place for the last year. My partner and I were part of a local event that allowed us to try some of the food that they offered. We had the sausages and some bread that they use for their samosas. It was pretty good! I remembered seeing photos of the whole fish platters and was intrigued so asked about it.

We can back after the event for dinner lol. Upon recommendation from Nancy, we got a side order of samosas which were Absolutely DELICIOUS!! I would love to have a 3-4 pack of these for lunch every day! I had the dry fish and my partner had the curry chicken with fries.

The dry fish was so frickin good... fried fish with rice and even was able to try their hot pepper sauce which had a big ol kick but was so good with the fish!! The current chicken was good as well, my partner definitely regretted not getting it with rice but she had the craving for fried that night.

The atmosphere is great and we got in just before the night changed into their nightlife scene which makes for a whole other atmosphere. We had great service from Joram, was very attentive and very prompt. Again Nancy and Joram were phenomenal!

We can't wait to come...

We tried this restaurant after attending an event at the Showare Center. Parking is available on the street or in a nearby lot. This was the first time trying Kenyan food, so we were not sure what to expect. Upon entering, there is a bar area to the right and the restaurant to the left. We walked up to the counter as first timers we were not sure how seating was done. For appetizers, we tried the mandazi as they were out of samosas. The mandazi was lukewarm at best and tasted like a stale half sweet dough. For dinner I tried the goat stew with pilau while my husband tried the chicken curry. While the goat was tender, it lacked some oomph. Stews usually taste like they were cooking for quite some time- this didn't. The pilau was okay - I did have to add some extra salt and also ended up asking for pepper sauce of some kind. The sauce they brought out seems to be what was missing as the taste greatly improved. I tried a bit of my husband's curry and I was not a fan. He did enjoy the chapati bread that he ordered. While I'm glad we tried a different cuisine, I'm not certain we have plans to return or make a trip to Kent...
