You’ve seen the little red adobe style buildings around the area. You may even have gone in and tried this Mexican fast food joint. There is one near where I live that is frequented by hispanic laborers. I like it fine, but it is just fast food. OK, but not great. “El Sabor” means, “The flavor” and it is true enough. My girlfriend and I had driven down to Kent to get supplies from El huerto to get ingredients to make tamales for Christmas. We spent a lot of time shopping to get just the right cheese, chilis, corn husks, masa, and lard. After shopping we ran some more errands in the area. We even found gas for under $4 a gallon. All in all a very successful trip. Despite the success and the lovely company I found myself getting grumpy. We planned to go for a walk. I hoped the exercise would fix my cranky mood. My girlfriend took one look at me and correctly diagnosed the real issue. “What do you think about getting some tacos?” Bingo! That was just what the doctor ordered. I was hangry! El Sabor was right around the corner. It was the perfect answer to my issues. They would have good stuff and get it to me fast. We pulled into the tiny parking area and rushed inside. The only obstacle to getting my usual happy mood back was that the menu had a million items. When I am hangry, the last thing I want to do is make a choice. Someone needs to read my mind and give me just what I want without me having to make an effort. Should I go with the birria? Maybe a burrito, since I needed lots of food? Sopas? Caldo? An assortment of tacos? “You should get the carne asada,” suggested my girlfriend. Her radar was working perfectly. “Add in a chili relleno.” Perfect. This combination is not on the menu, but with a quick exchange of Spanish, my girlfriend made it happen. Picking a drink was easy. I always get the jamaica agua fresca. I filled my cup and sat down to wait while watching a telenovella on the TV. The food came out quickly. It came with tortillas and guacamole. Life doesn’t get much better. I can’t tell you specifically what they do differently at this location, but it is by far the best. I ate quickly and soon I my plate was clean and my mood was...
Read moreAfter watching a video yesterday of My Cousin dipping tacos in this beautiful tasty looking soup, I asked him what he was eating. He said it’s a Mexican soup called consommé. I began to drive around Kent to a few Mexican restaurants before I finally found this place and they indicated they had it. They rang up my order and as I stood back to wait, I looked down at my receipt and realize the receipt said POZOLE. I googled it. This is not what I was ordering. Pozole is actually a soup Too, but not what I was saying. I went back to the register and showed the young man that took my order that is not what I was asking him for and I was looking for a Mexican soup that you dip tacos in consomme. I reference my phone and the spelling of the word CONSOMME, they had it, He advised he could fix it. I waited another 30 minutes and he brought a bag out and indicated the soupWas on the bottom of the bag. I got home and opened up the bag to find three separate bowls of soup and an order of Rancherito’s. And this was $24. So clearly the language barrier is the first issue the mask was the 2nd issue.. The soup definitely was delicious but I was irritated because I wasn’t able to feed both of my kids with this little amount of food. I’m gonna call my bank and dispute this.I did not get the tacos that are supposed to come with this soup either so I got four Rancherito’s and three bowls of soup for $24. The gentleman was nice but I don’t think this is $24...
Read moreI just had carne asada tacos at this place and I highly recommend this place! I usually take pictures of my food before I eat it, but this time I forgot and they were so delicious that by the time I decided to write a good review the plate was already empty! 😄 Delicious meat, delicious flatbreads, there is a station with lime, radish, sauces and they gave me sour cream upon request! The staff is very friendly, I was cold from the air conditioning, at first I wanted to leave, but they turned off the air conditioning for me so that I could eat comfortably! This is respect for the guests, for which I am very grateful! A very large selection of different food, which I have not seen in other taco cafes! Come and you will...
