I have given this restaurant several chances to impress me and it always comes up short. Let me start by saying, I am a complete foodie and this place misses the mark on multiple levels. The only reason this place has such great ratings is because Kerrville is desperate for new restaurants. You never know what you're going to get with the food. It depends on who is in the kitchen that day. The chicken is dry and bland and they use the same chicken in all their chicken dishes. The hummus is flavorless and has the consistency of baby food. The chick peas on the deconstructed falafel salad have a texture I didn't know was possible in a chick pea. They are chewy and have a tough outer skin. The tomatoes I got on the salad once had black mold on them. The salami has a weird slimy coating. The meatball pizza has very few meatballs on it and it made me sick once. The cream based soups are lumpy and separate. The grilled cheese tastes like old grill grease and the bread is so hard it will abrade the roof of your mouth. The beer is pretty mediocre too which is really disappointing considering it's a microbrewery. The service is hit or miss. From them not bringing you the appropriate silverware or enough napkins so you have get up and get it yourself to them bringing you two napkins and walking away so you have to clean up your own accidental spill, it's pretty frustrating. And I must not be awesome looking enough, but the bearded millennial lumber jack wanna-be behind the counter wouldn't wait on me. At the risk of getting incredibly nit picky, I need to say there must also not be a dress code for employees. Many of them look like they just came from the gym in work out clothes, some with their bra straps hanging out. Very unprofessional. I don't expect suits and ties but take some pride in what you do and dress appropriately. If this restaurant was in Austin, it would die a quick death but fortunately for them, it may just have a chance in a town that doesn't have many restaurant options.
Update 3/29/18: Thank you for responding. I do agree with you on several points. You guys have sought to connect with the community and create a space for people to meet. You have succeeded at that. It is a cool space to hang out in. Also the owners (that's you) are incredibly nice. I believe that this has accounted for a large part of the place's success. But still the food and service fall short. The food and service should be just as much a core part of the business as the meeting space/sense of community because....restaurant. I hope that you guys eventually hit your stride but after the moldy tomato incident and the lumberjack looking through me and waiting on the guy behind me, you kind of hit the point of no return. For now, I, my fam, friends and coworkers are going to sit...
Read moreFood was sub par, I would say that the service was poor but the fact is ... there was NO service. Since it was our first time there, we were not familiar with the ‘process’ so after standing at the register for several minutes someone came over & motioned toward the menus that were stacked on the counter. After ordering, I was given a glass of ice (I ordered water) & my husband ordered a beer. After looking around for some water, someone finally motioned toward a metal can located on the oppposite wall, so I walked over & filled my glass. Although we were literally the only ones in the place (mid day), someone brought the beer almost 10 minutes later. Sub par food arrived maybe 20-25 minutes after that. Although these comments accurately reflect my opinion of this place, the absolute worst part of our dining experience was days later when I looked at my credit card bill and realized that although I intentionally DID NOT leave a tip (again we received NO service, I had to leave my table twice to get more water, my husband simply gave up on getting another beer, no one ever returned to our table after bringing the food), this place added a 20% tip to my bill after I signed it electronically! (Note: I failed to zero out the tip line, suppose that’s my fault but I’ve done that many times and NO business has ever just added their own tip!) This is not about the measly 6 bucks .... it’s about principle! Kerrville is a beautiful little town, but we’ll NEVER return to this dishonest place...
Read moreThe atmosphere here is amazing! It is a great place to study, meet up with friends and family, or just to take a little break. The beer is alright and nothing to go crazy for, the food is mediocre, but the service is awful. The food is very much over priced for the quality delivered. I ordered a burger and fries and the fries were charcoal black! I went to say something but after waiting 20-25 minutes for our food to arrive, tasting the nasty fries, and find one of the waitresses (who was wearing extremely skimpy clothing) she then said the kitchen was closed. Not only did they fail to inform us that the kitchen closed early, it took nearly 40 minutes to be able to say something about the poor quality of the food. She did not offer to help, to provide a refund, or even attempt to make the situation better - in fact, she just walked away. Not very professional or helpful. In addition to this, my table was automatically charge 20% tip, FOR WHAT? We were not served our food, had to self-serve our drinks, and the "waitresses" did not even help. We even had to go get our own food because they called our number. Also, a male and female who were employed here were arguing about their relationship at the table next to ours. It was clear they were not on break either because afterwards they got up to go "clean." Very disappointed by the service and food here. I may return and give them another try, but I am...
