this is review about Higgs beach.. âI guess best beach in key west⊠Definitely better then smathers beach. Reason as mentioned belowâ - Hi there. People were saying key west beaches are much cleaner, better than Miami beaches. Personally, I found Hollywood/ south point park/ Fort Lauderdale beach are much better than key west ones
this beach is really beautiful. White sand... Calm and peace. Soothing waves... less crowd- scenic beauty. Palm trees at the beach making it more beautiful. Perfect picture scene.
Water is clear and looks greenish under sunlight making it desirable. asking you to come, have fun in the water. Water sports and snorkelling are also there. You can book in advance taking the whole package. That would be cheaper Shower facility is there at the beach and its clean.
No doubt key west beaches can beat any beach out of Florida (except top10) bt isnât Florida known for its beaches ;)
What I found best about this beach is, its pier Pier is small and not that long People were diving from pier (though it wasnât allowed) and you can have fun in deep water, though it was only up to your chest
There is the only restaurant is out there (Salute! On the beach)... You also wanna see park (Key west...
Read moreGreat public beach with FREE parking. It has a fenced in playground for little kids as well as a bath house for changing clothes. It has a volleyball net and outside showers to rinse off sand. It also has beach and lounge chairs some with umbrellas but are first come first served . There is also a bar/coffee type place where you can get a cool drink and sit outside and see the ocean. The water is nice but you have to be aware of the blue jelly fish that wash up on shore. Don't touch them even if they are dead. You won't find any shells but it's still a great beach for the whole family. Fishing is close by on the big long concrete pier should that tickle your fancy. If you look over the edge you might just see a nurse shark and lots of other fish. They also have a grated pier to the right with benches and binoculars to look out at the water. Make sure you wear shoes on that one tho! Don't forget the sun screen!!!! Most of all enjoy! Oh and the sunset is a must on...

Large sandy beach, but water shoes are definitely recommended out in the shallow water. Not a great swimming beach, but it is a good place to snorkel (esp along the old pylons off the end of Higgs pier). There are several covered pavilions (both small and large), a mostly shaded playground, a couple of beach volleyball courts, a beautiful city garden (in the West Martello Battery), a historic African cemetery, and an awesome beachside café (Saluté, the sister restaurant of the more-famous Blue Heaven in Bahama Village). As an added bonus, just across the street are several tennis courts, an additional playground, several regulation bocce courts, and a dog park (with separate areas for small and large dogs).
UPDATE: Be aware that there is still some ongoing construction from damage caused by Hurricane Ian, but it does not interfere with a great day...
