We wanted to try Kermit’s key lime pie because online it says it’s the best on the island and we read that the owner was from Maryland, as are we. This Wednesday night around 7/8pm we walked in and were surprised to see that they had samples of all of their mini cookies. My 9 year old and I were sampling the cookies to decide which ones we wanted to buy, after purchasing a slice of pie, a big box of hard candies and a key lime “lemonade”. While my son was opening one of the jars of cookies the handle broke off of the lid and the metal lid fell on to the counter. It was truly an accident, he didn’t unscrew the lid… but the girl who was working behind the counter was extremely rude about it. She didn’t say anything but she huffed and puffed and came over to it and grabbed it. Then was giving us dirty looks the entire time we were in the store after that so we decided to leave instead of getting the cookies and other goodies we were excited to try.
I’ve worked customer service my entire life and I understand that it can be stressful but she made our entire family feel extremely uncomfortable to the point that we left the store without making our second purchase. My son and I were making memories sampling the cookies and rating them 1-10 like he sees people do on tv. We were laughing and enjoying them, and then the lid breaks and he immediately starts apologizing and tries to fix it even though it wasn’t his fault. The worker could have simply said “oh it’s okay!” and moved on, but she decided to give us the evil eye and make us feel unwelcome in the store. Now that is the memory our family has of visiting Kermit’s and we definitely will not return.
The pie was okay, it didn’t taste like anything spectacular. The hard candies are good, and the limeade was incredibly...
Read moreKermit's Key Lime Pie Show is our go to dessert shop when we are visiting the Keys. The best dessert on a stick I've ever had, is Kermit's frozen chocolate dipped key lime pie!! Words cannot express how delicious this amazing frozen dessert is. Since, I'm writing this review, I will do my best to describe the yummy goodness of this dessert.
What is this magical dessert: First, key lime pie in the Keys is off the chart good, so starting with a great pie is crucial. Second, you add Belgium chocolate to a slice of key lime pie. Third, the buttery graham cracker crust., which provides a sweet and crunchy finish and then freeze. That's it, it's a simple as that.
My experience: When I visit the shop, I go straight to the freezers, where my dream dessert is waiting for me. I'm always so excited to open the wrapper, it's cold and inviting. I gently open the wrapper to reveal the tasty treat. The first bite, the zesty and tart key lime hits your tongue. Hallelujah, I'm home!! The second bite you feel and taste the smooth and creamy filling made with key limes and that wonderful condensed milk combo, just melts in your mouth. And the third bite, your taste buds envelope the pie and the golden brown graham cracker crust explodes in sync with the filing and the smooth chocolate. I'm telling you, it's an outer-body experience for me and maybe it will be...

Of course a human dressed in a key lime-colored baker's outfit was right curbside showing off a whole key lime pie to us all. And of course my spouse had to have one. After throwing down a few and enjoying some conch around town, we popped in before getting back on the cruise ship.
MENU: Pies (by the slice, whole, even shipped to the lower 48), ice cream, smoothies, beverages.
DESSERT: Key Lime Pie On A Stick An actual slice of frozen pie was covered in a dark chocolate shell. I personally would've liked it more if it was milk chocolate as the combined tartness of the pie and dark chocolate made it extremely tart for me.
Key Lime Pie I'm not a key lime pie expert or fan, but it was good to me. A bit tart, light, not overly sweet, with a thin and moist crust.
SERVICE: The male staff member who assisted us was welcoming and friendly.
TIP: They sell other snacks and items as well. Mosey around the store!
OVERALL: If you're a key lime fan, I'm sure you'll...
