Beach bar. Theme is beach bar. Staff not the friendliest. Food not exceptional but decent. We ate the crab cakes starter. Although they tasted fresh, they could have been cooked a bit longer; I tend to like a crunch with my crab cakes. The mango salsa was necessary to take away what felt like an unnecessary accompaniment with the sauce. The cookie that comes with it is soggy by the time it gets to you; might be from the salsa, the pineapple or the crab cakes. The best thing about this location is the ease of access to the beach. The view is spectacular. Be warned, the beach chairs have to be reserved and paid for. My advice, bring your own food and seats but drink from the bar and enjoy the live music. It's a win-win.

We had our first stop in key west from our cruise and it happened to be on my 30th birthday! What a perfect place! The owner opened up earlier for us and gave us beers, this was at around 10am, that off the bat was super cool of him! It’s the cutest little beach area with tables, chairs and lounge chairs you can rent. They serve food there also! Our favorite was the pontoon looking boat that had a bar style set up with chairs all around. The guy took just my husband and I out on a little guided tour and it was super amazing! I would definitely recommend to everyone and I know we can’t wait to go back there!

They have overwhelmed a small beach with too many rental chairs that essentially make it their private domain. This beach is a unique public resource, it being the only public sandy beach within walking distance of the old town area. Its a lively beach, and having the Lagerheads bar there makes it better by far. I recommend Lagerheads to visitors all the time for their great staff, delicious food and drinks, and the wonderful bands and musicians they bring to the beach. This is a great place for people who want a free, close by, clean, sandy public beach to swim and enjoy the harbor and sunset views. Fort Zach is too far away and requires an entry fee. Unfortunately, the recent invasion of the beach chairs is wrong and has to be cut back to a reasonable level, because the public's use of the beach is being unfairly infringed. Simonton St. beach is very small, and the rental chairs are lined up right in front of the water, and then right behind them are the tables, essentially eliminating all of the public space this beach is supposed to offer. The citizens and visitors in Key West have a right to lay towels and sit on the sand too. Im sure they pay the city for the concession, but I'll bet the city does not intend them to place rental chairs along 100% of the usable beachfront. I am going to call the city to find out what the concession...

I've never had a bad experience until the afternoon of January 30th. It was the least busy that I've seen and walked directly to order with no wait & very few on the beach. It took over 10 minutes to get our Cuban Sandwiches. When I asked "No cookie" they said they hadn't been very busy with the bad weather and didn't have any. huh??? My Cuban had way too much mustard & overwhelmed the meat. My friend ordered chips & salsa to share with 2 others. When I got my order another girl took some sitting there and had no buzzer. I told Michelle(?) I think those are my friends. Oh no, we have more in the back. After 15 minutes my friend's buzzer still hadn't gone off so she inquired and Michelle refunded her money vs making it right. Her reply was to Have a nice day. After that Michelle sat on the patron chairs vaping. When we left, she said Have a nice day. I don't think she has a clue that we were not happy with the service. Overall, I love Lagerheads for the ambience of sitting on the beach and eating Cubans and watching others have fun. I know this was a one-time bad experience but I wanted to make the owner aware of the service...

If it weren’t for the extremely rude man who tried to take the umbrella out of the table we were eating at (half an hour before close), they would get all five stars!! Best Cuban sammich I had on my trip. The beach was small but great for doggies and a little sunset swim!! The other staff members were extremely nice (the rude man got sand all over our food when he tried to take the umbrella out, put it back wrong so the entire table tipped over, spilling drinks, he didn’t apologize, just walked away) and said they would tell the owner about him. The drinks were amazing and the sunset spectacular!!

UPDATE: the manager/owner tells me he doesn’t speak English, but he DEFINITELY spoke enough English to tell me (quite rudely) to “get your stuff and go somewhere else.” I asked where he wanted me to move it, he said “I don’t care. Get your...
