Margo was our guide for our two hour kayak session and was SUPER knowledgeable and extremely mindful of our safety. She had waters, sunscreen and bug spray readily available and made us all feel welcome and comfortable. We had a 14, 12 and 10-year-old and was perfect to have the tandem-kayak option for the two younger ones. They probably wouldâve been fine in their own boats but it got pretty hot for the 11am tour, so weâre glad to be able to set their paddle down and just float with their feet cooling in the water. Sunscreen and a hat is a must for me (we trusted my 14-year-old to apply himself and of course didnât,) and he got fried as youâre under direct sun the whole tour (unless itâs cloudy of course.). With kids would highly recommend an earlier morning tour when itâs not so hot. There was a nice breeze occasionally but going through the quieter mangrove areas there wasnât a lot of movement. So for us Minnesotans, felt like we were sitting in an oven. Aside from that, it was an incredible experience, educational, memorable and got to see some awesome FL wildlife (stingrays, turtle, birds.) With plenty of opportunities to take pictures and paddle leisurely. The perfect speed for a family of five or anyone wanting to explore FL from the water:) Thanks...
Read moreWhat a wonderful, must-do experience during our Key West trip. We booked last minute and had a same-day kayak tour that same afternoon, and they even picked us up from our condo in Old Town. It was all hands on deck when we arrived, with the entire staff getting us ready for our tour. We had 6 people including our 6 year old son, and everything went so smoothly. This crew is laid back, easy going and is everything that is great about the Keys vibe. Our guide was Eleonora and she was fantastic. Every part of the tour was at our own pace, and unfolded organically in a way that made us so comfortable with the boats, the environment, and the new experiences. Eleonora took time to point out the surrounding wildlife, gave us extra time to explore our surroundings, and pulled up numerous wildlife specimins to show us along the way. The individual attention she gave to our son, which included hands-on interaction with starfish and jellyfish, was above and beyond and gave him an experience he'll never forget. If you go to the Keys and have 3 hours to spare, get off the "tourist" conveyor belt and call Key West Eco Tours. The best $65 you'll spend on your trip. We'll definitely be back to...
Read moreWe luv outdoor water activities especially supporting Eco Tourism, thus, we decided to take a kayak tour with Key West Eco Tours.
It's especially cool to kayak around the National Marine Sanctuary leaving from Geiger Bay.
Donât you want to be here overlooking these beautiful palm trees and blue sky?
In addition to kayak guided tours, Key West Eco Tours also provide sailing, peddle boarding and snorkelling.
For our kayak tour, we had a really nice guide named Jamie who led the group out with enthusiasm and explained things in a way that was easy to understand especially from a kidâs point of view.
There were tons of jellyfish and at one point we got to see one up very close! Jamie scooped up a jelly fish in a jar and it was passed over kayak to kayak so everyone could see it up close. What an incredible experience!
At one point when we kayak crossing over a school of nurse sharks, that was really really cool!
The owner, George was also extremely nice an funny which made the waiting time to get on the kayaks go by much quicker.
We highly recommend Key West Eco Tours and will definitely book another tour again if we visit The Florida Keys in the...
