UPDATE: Thank you, Derek, for your reply and for talking with me. You did take immediate action and that person is no longer employed at Island Dogs. We determined the issue with the food … the waiter simply did not want to serve us and the food wasn’t served in a timely matter and it was cold. As mentioned, next time we are in KW, we definitely will visit again. Thank you!
This restaurant/bar “prides” itself in honoring veterans, military and first responders! Not true! We had a group of 4 couples - the men in the group were all of these! The waiter, who was by far the rudest person I’ve encountered on Key West, didn’t acknowledge or ask our men about their service. The waiter clearly did not want to work that day. From the moment we entered and were seated, he was not in the mood to wait on us. Slammed our food on the table. We had to ask for extra plates, utensils and napkins - which he also slammed on the table and said a few choice words while doing so. He rudely asked us what we wanted and it was as if we were putting him out! The restaurant/bar was not busy at the time of our visit. The waiter (a man of dark skin wearing a “worker in the field” type of hat) may have been an assistant manager or manager who was too important to do a measly waiter job! The food was overcooked and not tasty at all, either. The only time the waiter was nice was when it was time to pay the tab - clearly he thought he earned his tip (which he did not and the tip was not a good one). We do not recommend this establishment if you want to be...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying many new places during this Key West trip and Island Dogs was on the list. When we arrived for brunch on 1/17/21, the hostess was nowhere to be found, but we chalked it up to its brunch on a Sunday, and the inside of the restaurant is probably packed. The hostess finally came outside, which seemed to be a major inconvenience, and we were seated on the porch. That was the last time we ever interacted with an Island Dogs employee. We sat on the patio for the next 30 minutes completely ignored and unacknowledged. The other porch tables had to keep going inside in search of their food & checks, at one point a server walked out food to the table beside us, but turned and walked away when we tried to get her attention. I finally looked inside the restaurant, only to surprisingly find it mostly empty. I have NO idea what the issue was, or where the staff was, but it was completely unacceptable. We finally gave up and just walked away. We went straight across the street to Two Friends Patio Restaurant, which WAS packed and had a short wait. We were welcomed, had our temperatures taken, sat within 10 minutes, and served a delicious brunch. By the time we left, the nice local couple we were sitting beside at Island Dogs who recommended Two Friends Patio to us, was just...
Read moreSo, let me begin by saying, I have eaten here every time I’ve been to Key West. So much so that I bragged to my friends and insisted we go there. Well I was highly disappointed. The hostess was the most rude person I have ever encountered. Wearing her sunglasses I suppose to hide all her eye rolling. She was absolutely nasty to our guest when we walked up and looked into the bar. She yelled at him to ask bar or table, when we said table (twice I might had) I could just feel the eye rolls behind those glasses. I get it, tourist aren’t fun sometimes but you’re in a tourist town! Get another job if you don’t want to deal with a mixture of people. To be honest, I didn’t even want to stay but my guest looked the other way and we sat. The server was nice and no complaints there. However, the menu has been cut down in size and there really weren’t a lot of options. For example, I used to always get the chicken sandwich and they no longer serve that. We ordered and ate, nothing else to really say. Nothing spectacular like it was before on my last visit. I’ve recommended this place to others visiting in the past but I won’t now after...
