We loved Mr.Z for 15 years and always supported local businesses. Yes the food is great and best steak and cheese in Florida. But do not go there after hours it is a nightmare. This used to be our place to go after a long night. I walked in waited in line they were busy like normal two customers in front of me were a bit intoxicated and did not know what they wanted so being next in line I was trying to ask for three cheese slices by that time the people in front decided what they wanted. Next thing really left me shock. The next guy working the counter asked me what I needed I asked for three slices he took my money at that moment I asked how long will it be due to the fact I had a cab outside. He did not answer I asked him again and this was his response. "You work for tip right ?" I said no he said we do put some tips in and I will make it go fast. I asked again how long he got mad for the question so things excalated from there I got upset and responded in the same way of his attitude. He then said we don't need your money next thing you know we were yelling back and forth even out via the fan window. Upon visiting other locations on the island they have heard this has been an issue. We tip ALWAYS more than most for three slices of cheese pizza caused a nightmare of a night. Just by asking how long will it take

We have never experienced that on the island we always tip more than most When I do tours this was our stop, we even drove to the one in Sanford to help support but after sat night we will never be returning to mr.z after many...

I LOVED this pizza place [past tense], it was a go-to-spot everytime we visit Duval St. But the last two times the service was less than acceptable. Rude isn't even the word to describe the staff BOTH times we tried to bring new customers to them. First time we were with friends for Fantasy Fest & it was super busy, so we let the attitudes slide thinking they were just overwhelmed. Went back two weeks ago on a family trip and suggested this place for an easy dinner downtown; boy was that a MISTAKE. They initially told us it'd be a 25 minute wait for 2 pies, so we waited & went back 30 minutes later. Instead of getting our pizza we were told it'd be 25 minutes until our order was ready; not sure what the problem was, but we asked for clarity on the discrepancies in the information we were given (since we'd already waited half an hour) & were told "what, you want your money back then". Not sure what this pizza guys problem was but being unnecessarily rude to customers you just lied to isn't a good look and truly made me REGRET suggesting we go there. Not only did you (the staff of Mr. Zs) make yourselves look like imbeciles, but you made me look bad in the process too; so thanks for that. I guess business is booming so much during this pandemic you don't care about your customers experience, and quite frankly that's sad. Thankfully there's plenty of pizza places down there to choose from; I know I won't be going back to Mr. Zs - finally...

Please DO NOT support these guys! This was the WORST experience I’ve ever had in Key West. My wife and I travel to Key West regularly and even got married here. On our last night in town, we were having a lazy night and figured we’d try Mr.Z’s because it was conveniently located a few blocks away, what a mistake!! I ordered two cheesesteaks for carry-out and as soon as I signed my CC receipt, the guy at the counter slammed his drawer, screamed “Happy New Year” and started complaining to the other cooks that I didn’t tip him. First off, it was carry-out, and second I had just ordered my food totaling $15. Then, a girl sitting at the counter (girlfriend maybe) came over and said “nice tip buddy”. I know it is a tourist based economy and tips are encouraged, but I hadn’t even gotten served yet. Aren’t you supposed to tip based on level and quality of service? These guys expected a tip regardless of anything and didn’t even wait until I picked up my food to start blatantly complaining about it. How did they know I wasn’t going to throw them a few bucks when I picked up my food, which is when I would give a tip! I hope it was worth losing a customer. We will...

Must-Try Key West Eats: A No-Regrets Food Guide to Avoid Tourist Traps

Food: I'll start by saying I am by no means a Philly cheese steak connoisseur, but Ive had a handful in my time. But their "standard" Philly cheese steak is hands down the best Philly I've ever had. The meat was so flavorful and not dry in the slightest, it was topped with juicy fried mushrooms and onions and real melted American cheese.(bread was great too) it was just so unbelievably good, so much so that I might stop again before leaving the keys. The menu said the $5 fry is "HUGE" they are not kidding, it is WAY more than enough for 2 people They had beer, canned soda, and fountain drinks Service: The whole crew was great, from taking our order, to the cooks to the servers everyone was overly friendly and courteous. The crew worked very well together in a very small kitchen, and it seemed that all the workers were happy to be there and had great chemistry with each other which i don't believe you see very often. I rarely rarely RARELY write reviews, and if so its really only if a place is really good or really bad and this is one of the greats

When we were in the Keys, we walked everywhere and we were constantly hungry (I guess all that walking kept us wanted more food). So, one night, kind of late - we were walking around Southard Street and needed food stat. Our eyes searching the street for something delicious, but easy to eat (we were also tired from the day) and then we see the pizza sign and we knew that was what we wanted. This is not a sit down place inside or out. They only have a few high tops outside but we didn't care, we were starving and wanted pizza ASAP. We ordered a large Tomato Pie and Cheese pizzas. It did take awhile for the pizza to come out, we kept watching the door for our dude with the pizza and finally the pizza was presented to us. We immediately all grabbed slices of pizza and just inhaled the slices. The pizza did not disappoint, it was very good. They serve New York style thin crust and that pizza really hit the spot.
