I'd like to start off saying my partner was the GM of applebees and can work that store front to back. When she pulled in to get me that night it took everything for her not to go in there. SHE wanted to come today snd I decided that wasn't a good ideaa.She said that's not at all how it's supposed to be and it's impossible for anyone to be able to hit the floor running in any restaurant in 4 days. I finally proposed because I thought finally I can contribute someone I'd going to actually hire me and let me work! Because for some reason nobody actually wants hard workers who never stop and barely take breaks. You all are fine with servers and bartenders who ignore their customers to chat it up with friends even thought idc who you are, when you have customers they come first. Period. Or they sit there on their phones instead of doing their job, or helping when we are hectic. All I heard was how shitty some people were there and how TO NOT LET THEM TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME because I help SO MUCH and do SO MUCH that isn't even expected of me. Yet I turn around and am being told what? Everyone lied to me? And it was all a delsuion? That's not okay. I did EXCELLENT serving tables during the day and didn't mess up any orders that night. I was just SLOW BC OF MY TRAINER.
I was given 4 days to train. 1 of which I actually got trained. I was taught stuff but as far as serving tables i thought i did fine but i guess i wasnt being taught because im told i didnt do fine. Was never told i was messing up. Ive constantly asked for a set of rules and other tools to help me ve the best i can be. All ive done is go above and beyond to show how much i want to be there. 1 of the nights I was cut an hour in bc we were slow. I worked a total of 6 hours on the floor and half of that was spent busting tables and running food BC THEY DIDNT HAVE TIME to train me in the sense of allowing Mr to take their tables. How am I a shadow yet I'm supposed to take tables? bc every server got double and triple sat and everyone was always confused. It's funny how everyone else constantly messes stuff up, my Trainor of one of those nights messed up multiple orders both nights and missed drinks and stuff but I'm let go after 4 days. Sarah helped me a lot and taught me how to close. All tables i took were fine when i trained other than my last night things were slow. Well they were slow because my trainor constantly messed stuff up and i had to wait for her and she was everywhere and frantic. I get it we have bad days. But to do that to me bc of it? Blame me? Told me last night I should be on the floor by now I said how can I do that if I'm not being taught? I was doing fine with the server part. It's just the logistics and specifics of that restaurant u have to teach for me to be able to hit the floor running i was on call this week. On CALL bc ppl call in. All I want to do is work. You can't just come to a brand new restaurant and know everything. Yet I DID memorize the drink and half the food menu already and seating chart. Finished all my learning meanwhile the girl I started with is now here near done with her stuff and is so much further behind. Did they have that talk with her? Nope
Worst part Is as I left crying a male customer asked if I was okay. I explained this exactly. And they told me that they see thisnkind of thing all the time and they treat some people like crap. That's from your customers so. That's pretty sad. He said he saw me busting my butt and being quick and that i was better off. I'm pretty sure they over hired which is sad because she was interviewing still on wedsnday the 13th when this occurred. The manager said she'd have her best server give an honest opinion at the end of the might but cut me an hour in after she couldn't get ahold of her stuff. Read moreUPDATE 8/12/23: The general manager Amanda sent us a gift certificate to give them another chance and I appreciate her kindness and apology for what happened last time. This time was better, the food was good. The service still needs some work. We had Sylvia for a waitress this time, but Jax brought out our appetizer and instantly recognized us from our last visit and it was obvious. Sylvia was a lot nicer but was instantly WAY more attentive once we told her we had a gift certificate from the last disaster. All in all, this visit was better. But I would prefer to never see Jax again. Changing to 4 stars.
Went to Applebee’s around 8:30pm on 7/14/23 with my husband and I am not impressed. I got the 4 cheese mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken tenders and it took forever to get our food. When it finally arrived there was hardly any sauce on my noodles, no “cheese” anywhere to be seen. My husband didn’t get his food, we had to ask for it and only then did they tell us that his food had to be remade because it was dropped on the floor. I asked for a cup of whatever “cheese” sauce comes on my mac and cheese because it was dry and bland and instead the waitress, “Jax”, brought me bbq sauce first and then a cup of shredded cheese. She apparently doesn’t know what cheese sauce is and asked “you mean cream??” My pasta was cold by the time I got around to eating it after waiting for sauce. I just left it. Waitress had a horrible personality , and no manager came over to apologize to us. I don’t think anyone cared. Waitress acted like she did us a favor by taking $15 off the bill, which was the bare minimum she should have done. I think we are done with Applebee’s...
Read moreToday went in for lunch with my husband and special needs child. The waiter completely ignored my husband and only spoke to me (racially motivated I believe as my husband is black). After taking our order it took over 25 minutes for our food to arrive. In the meantime we had been waiting for over 15 minutes to get his attention to let him know that our child needed a drink refill. He had no problem going to the table right behind us multiple times but continued to ignore us. We had to actually call out to him to get him to refill our drink. The table that came in right behind us ,10 minutes after us had got their food before we got ours. When our food arrived the food was cold with the exception of our child's which was piping hot. Again we waited for the waiter to return so we could explain the problem however once again he ignored our table. I physically got up and searched the restaurant in order to find a manager. She was kind about the situation and offered to replace our food however at that point so much time had passed that we had to leave. Prior to leaving I went to use the ladies room and was confronted by cockroaches crawling on the floor. Needless to say it was an awful experience. I left disgusted and hungry.
